Top raver, booth infiltrator and our very own AM to PM girl, Lissy Lübeck is back on Ibiza for summer 2024, which means another weekly serving of misadventures in clubland. Here, Lissy shares her thoughts, experiences and inner musings direct from the dancefloor.
A year older, perhaps. But a year wiser? Nah.
If you heard it from anybody else, you'd dismiss it as hyperbole, but Lissy Lü's real life is like that... Partying as a profession is a hard life, but somebody's got to do it!
Amnesia debut
25 to 30 July
Thursday
This time of year certainly feels like birthday season. Apparently, a lot of my friends are Leos. July has been a very busy one for celebrations! This time, it was my friend Taisya’s - somebody I met this summer, who has become a big part of my life out here.
For the evening, a few of us headed down to Cala Jondal to Blue Marlin for its Amazona party. Starting off with cocktails on the sun loungers and making new friends from Australia and Italy, we later danced the evening away until 23:00, before moving inside to the club.
With blends of Afro and Latin House, the dancefloor was a real cosmopolitan of sounds and people.
Friday
Soaking up a taste of Barcelona’s famed Brunch Electronik, team Spotlight headed to the Benimussa Hills last Friday to 528 Ibiza, for the last of its three day parties.
From an epic performance by Mr. G in his true outlandish style, a feel-good set by Jeremy Underground, followed by a hair-raising closing by Folamour, the authentic House groovers had the crowd fully invested from start to finish.
By far one of my favourite parties of the summer so far.
Unlike Brunch, my night didn’t end at the 23:00 curfew. Afterwards, I then headed to Joseph Capriati's Metamorfosi party at Amnesia, where I caught two of my favourite DJs Carlita and Blackchild in action. Later, Capriati stole the show with a killer three hour set on the Terrace.
Another musical highlight of the summer for sure.
Sunday
A well needed day off, I really used this Sunday to my advantage, as I entered complete chill out mode.
Starting with a beautiful poolside lunch at 7Pines Resort, with views overlooking Es Vedrà. Afterwards, I lounged on a sunbed at Cala Tarida until the evening. I had a real moment of gratitude as the sun started to go down on one of my favourite beaches.
Movement picked up later on, as we decided to play a spontaneous spot of paddle at The Bubble Club, which was followed by an Italian dinner at my local, Ausonia. That is how Sundays should be done.
Monday
On Monday, I ticked off one of my goals for the year to play at another Ibiza superclub. Pinch me! Monday was the night of my big Amnesia debut. An opening set on The Terrace at Amnesia Presents. Big up the booker Neil Evans for the invite. I'll be forever grateful.
A few good friends turned up for moral support. Until that moment, I hadn't anticipated how much I would appreciate it. I was nervous to be taking over a sound system in a club of Amnesia's scale and to be DJing on equipment I'd never used before.
Before I knew it, 90 minutes was up and I was already handing over to the next DJ. I played to myself, didn't lean towards any commercial crowd-pleasers and received positive feedback from pals and the artist liaison. I'll be back on 19 August, with newfound confidence.
Tuesday
On Tuesday we were all go as we embarked on a clubbing tour around the island.
We eased ourselves in gently at O Beach for Kisstory, lapping up some yummy cocktails and taking in the sights and sounds. We then ventured over the road to the Slingshot, where Luke and Hayley bravely volunteered. Okay, Hayley may have needed a little coercion.
Next up was a sold out Cova Santa for Eastenderz, followed by Paradiso at Pacha's El Hotel.
Afterwards, we headed to Pikes for Kylie Minogue and The Blessed Madonna. We then ventured to Pacha for CAMELPHAT, before ending our lap of the island with The Martinez Brothers at Hï Ibiza. I think that's pretty good going.
The highlight was the short but sweet ten minutes in Freddies as Kylie emerged behind the decks singing Can’t You Get You Out Of My Head, followed by her upcoming single with The Blessed Madonna. The no phone policy flew straight out the window as soon as she began!

Restaurant of the week
This is a special shout out to the absolutely exquisite pizza at La Specialitá at Pacha's El Hotel.
Whilst you indulge in some 10/10 cocktails at Paradiso bar, I would highly recommend grabbing a pizza too. Somewhat of a self-proclaimed pizza connoisseur, I can confidently say that this may be the best pizza I've ever had on the island.

Ricardo Villalobos' Birthday | Pyramid Daytime | Cova Santa | Monday 5 August
This week, Amesia's in-house Sunday night staple Pyramid continues on Monday daytime. From 19:00 to late at Cova Santa on 5 August, you can party alfresco as the man, the myth, the legend hismelf Ricardo Villalobos celebrates his birthday with an exclusive back-to-back with Romania's finest, Raresh.
The Minimal kings will also be joined by Maher Daniel, Mar-T, Luca Donzelli, Ion Pananides b2b Alex Potts and the added bonus of more surprises in store.
Whisper from the dancefloor
It hasn't been the best of summers for some of Ibiza's smaller clubs. After the enforced closure of NUI and the blink-and-you-missed-it stint of Avyca, I'm hearing another was raided and shut down by the authorities earlier this week.

Tune of the week
Blackchild | So Good | Solid Grooves Records | 19 July
Italian DJ/producer Blackchild has been making waves with his jazz-influenced House tracks and D-floor-focused productions. Recently, he's been busy with his label and party series NAIMA, as well as high-profile remix of St. Germain earlier this year.
Now, the Solid Grooves regular is back with a dopamine-drenched anthem So Good (Heat Mix). Featuring infectious sax melodies, slick drums and bumping low-ends, it's been dominating dancefloors around the island all summer long - and it's finally out!
