Weather, events and what to wear in Ibiza in August

August is the hottest month and peak season in Ibiza with holidaymakers and clubbers visiting the island from all over the world. Cultural highlights include three must-see firework displays.

Visitors to Ibiza can expect sunny, hot weather during August with daytime temperatures rising to over 30 degrees Celsius - this often feels even hotter, as August is the month with the highest humidity. Also, at night, temperatures stay over 20 degrees Celsius: what many European countries call tropical nights - and they surely feel like that!

Thunderstorms may occur, particularly towards the end of the month. Sea temperatures are generally around 26°C. Naturally, the island's beaches are usually packed during August - now is the perfect time to enjoy the island's many beautiful beach clubs.

Events

There are no less than three spectacular fireworks displays this month. The first is held in honour of San Cyriac in Ibiza Town on the evening of 8 August; it's best viewed from the marina area.

The second is the culmination of the Fiestas de Figueretas on 15 August, the neighbourhood sandwiched between Ibiza Town and Playa d'en Bossa. Witness the show from the beach of Figueretas.

Lastly, there's a fireworks display in San Antonio at midnight on 24 August, at the end of the festivities for its patron saint, Saint Bartholomew. It's best seen from the town promenade, where there is also traditional folk dancing and live music.

Bloop Festival, a free interactive event combining artwork, music and technology held annually, takes place in Ibiza Town and in San Antonio in August.

It's peak season for clubbers, so check out our party calendar for August.

August is ideal for water sports, exploring the coast by kayak or paddle surf, or taking a boat trip. If you come with your kids during the school holidays, check out what things you can do with the family.

As you can see, there's no shortage of fun daytime and night-time activities to keep you entertained on Ibiza this month!
