A Course in Miracles - Carolina Corada

Many have heard of A Course in Miracles but don't know much beyond that, so we chat with Carolina Corada, respected teacher of ACIM to discover more and what Ibiza has to offer.

I recently had the pleasure of meeting with Carolina Corada to chat with her about her life here on Ibiza as a teacher of A Course in Miracles.

If, like me, you have heard of A Course in Miracles (ACIM) but know very little about it, then Carolina explains that this is a three-part book channelled in the late seventies by a psychologist in New York who was originally somewhat shocked and in denial at apparently hearing the voice of Jesus. However, with the support of a colleague, she continued to channel for seven years and the subsequent teachings consist of a Textbook with 31 chapters, a Workbook with 365 Lessons (one for each day of the year), plus a Manual for Teachers.

Carolina had a non-religious childhood and upbringing, and was introduced to Reiki, Yoga and Meditation at a young age by her mother. In 1990, just five years after it became available in Spanish, Carolina discovered ACIM and has since become highly respected as one of the main Spanish teachers of the course, having done a couple of tours of the States and meeting lots of other ACIM teachers on her extensive travels in Latin America and Spain.

She first came to Ibiza in 2009 to teach groups and moved to the island permanently from Malaga in August 2012, after hearing very clearly during a meditation that this is where she would live, and that something important was about to happen. At the time, Carolina was guided to organise the first ever Ibiza Enlight Festival, a unique idea in the world of ACIM, to celebrate A Course in Miracles and the joining of its teachers and students as one.

A Course in Miracles is also known as the Transformation Book, The Forgiveness Manual and A Book in Spiritual Psychology. Carolina describes it as a beautifully poetic book which, whilst profound in tone, is flexible and everyone's experience of it will be different. The ultimate aim is to be at peace, with the emphasis on the training of the mind. When the mind is focused on love, life becomes more peaceful.

It is interesting to note that many of today's recognised leading teachers of spirituality and self-development, including Deepak Chopra, Louise L Hay, Eckhart Tolle, Marianne Williamson and Dr Wayne Dyer all have a background with ACIM, or have been teachers.

Carolina has also developed a method of movement and music based on A Course in Miracles called "IntroDanza" which she first shared publicly in 2001. It combines the teachings of ACIM with Tai Chi, Biodanza and other movements, and is aimed at the release of the judgemental mind, and all of the obstacles that hinder the experience of love, both of self and others.

On top of this, she is also writing a book, and will be running a six-night Easter Enlight Retreat at Casa Naya in the heart of Ibiza.

And following the success of last year's celebration, there is another international eight-day Ibiza Enlight Festival due to be held this year between 4th and 12th October, again here on Ibiza.
