Ibiza Cricket hosts "Red for Ruth" charity tournament with ex-England professionals

This "festival of cricket" will feature top-level players, fun activities, a BBQ, an auction and coaching clinics for children.

On Saturday, 12 October, Ibiza Cricket Club will proudly host the first international charity game for the Red for Ruth Foundation, founded by ex-England cricket captain Sir Andrew Strauss in memory of his dearly beloved wife Ruth. The event will take place in the form of a thrilling short-format, five-team tournament held from 10:00 to 17:00 at the club’s ground in San Lorenzo.

This “festival of cricket” will feature elite teams including Ibiza CC, London New Zealand CC, Wimbledon CC, Millichamp & Hall, and an invitational squad featuring former England professionals. The event promises to be the sporting highlight of the year, with current and former pro players in action.

The day will finish with a post-match BBQ, an auction and a raffle. Among the exciting prizes to be won will be boat trips, 5-star hotel packages, and fine dining experiences. As part of the club’s ongoing efforts to raise the profile of cricket in Ibiza and induct youngsters into "the gentleman's game", there will also be cricket coaching clinics - held by top-flight players - for kids. The little ones will also be treated to magic shows.

This prestigious event has gained the backing of Cricket España and the Consell of Ibiza (the Island Council), who are now official sponsors of the club.

The same weekend, a crew called Cricket District - who recently made a video about cricket in Croatia - arrive on the island to shoot a video about cricket in Ibiza.
