Ibiza Adventures: Bike Ibiza

Bike Ibiza offers guided bike tours, to discover the beauty and natural scenery of Ibiza on Mountain Bike, Road Bike, or E-Bike.

On a beautiful Saturday morning in April, the Ibiza Spotlight team were invited to explore the stunning area surrounding Santa Eulalia with Bike Ibiza. To begin our two-hour adventure, we joined our guide, Eric, the owner and founder of Bike Ibiza, at the sandy cove of Cala Pada.

As a team of varying ages and levels of bike riding expertise, there was some trepidation in case some may be more challenged by the route. Luckily for us, however, Eric's trusty two-wheelers had a trick up their sleeve: electric power. If you've yet to experience the beauty and smoothness of an electric bike, then boy, you are in for a treat.

Boasting three powers, eco, tour, and boost, this extra function turned the gentle climbs and even smooth country roads into a dream drive.

After setting ourselves up with helmets and water, we all took our first push of the pedal and set off along the coastline from Cala Pada to Cala Martina. The red-dusty path framed by green trees and bright blue skies provided a stunning backdrop as we meandered slowly, simply enjoying the experience of being back on a bike again.

They say you never forget how to ride a bike, however, most of us had forgotten the joy and fun of actually being on one.

Finding ourselves now on bumpy ground, we giggled at our individual handling styles of the two-wheeled transportation, with some of us wobbling and some whizzing more elegantly than others.

Eric then guided us towards Es Caná, a cute and delightfully quaint village on the north of the island. Here, we glided along the paseo as the tiny boats bobbed in the clear waters beside us.

Eric led ahead, guiding us next into the countryside and offering us a stunning shift in scenery, where wildflowers framed the now bumpy camino lanes. Here is where our biking competence came into play, as we shifted gears and tapped into the support of the eclectic power, moving through the changing terrains.

The different power options really were a welcome addition, where with one small burst of energy from the rider providing the horsepower needed to make the path before us feel effortless.

As we pushed onto the final leg of our journey, professional cyclist whizzed past us, kitted out in their racing gear and desperate to get ahead. Despite having the extra advantage of the electric pedal power none of us felt the need to join the race, instead leisurely gliding back to our starting point of Cala Pada.

We took the Santa Eulalia Route on the green level, which is designed for those who want to enjoy the scenery and where physical condition really isn't important. However, with over ten years of experience in the cycling game, Bike Ibiza offers numerous scenic routes for two, three, or even more hours, that cover the island far and wide. For the more avid cyclist and adventurists, their road bike adventures with racing bikes may be more up your street.
