Things to do this month on Ibiza | September 2024

Ask any regular visitor to Ibiza and they will tell you that September is one of the best months to come.

With a full line-up of cultural, musical and sporting activities, along with festivals and patron saint festivities, September is a prime time to head to the white island. And for clubbers, there are the first of the much heralded closing parties.

So, don´t think twice and book your autumn holiday now.

BLOOP International Proactive Art Festival

Every day from 1 September until 14 September 

BLOOP International Proactive Art Festival is devoted to proactive art. Its motto is "ART IS FOR EVERYONE", meaning it’s open to all, regardless of genre, resources or forms of creativity. 

Now in its 14th consecutive year, the festival´s theme is “THE WAIT”; a reference to the run-up to next year’s grand anniversary. Ibiza’s longest-running art event will be a micro edition this year, visible in both the streets and the online world.

This edition will feature an open-air gallery with murals by a wide range of artists as well as an open-air augmented reality exhibition in the Parque de la Paz in Ibiza Town.

Free entry. 


Mini Marathon - San Antonio Fiesta

Sun 1 September  

Part of the Saint Bartholomew festivities of San Antonio, the mini marathon - the oldest race in the Balearic Islands, dating back to 1978 - departs from the fountains' promenade at 10:00.

From there, it follows a circuit around the town (on roads closed to traffic). 

There are a total of eight races in which the following groups can take part: men, women, mini baby, infants, junior, senior and veterans.

BBQ and Live Music with Paco Fernandez

1, 15, 29 September

Taste of Salia restaurant, located at Can Salia Hotel in San Antonio Bay, is hosting a magical night of flamenco music by maestro Paco Fernandez and his band in combination with a special BBQ menu prepared by Chef Miguel Lopez on three occasions this month. 

Starting at 20:00, the event features the passionate live music of Paco Fernandez and his son, who perform the southern Spanish art form with influences from Rap and acoustic sounds.

As for the food: the high-quality BBQ menu is painstakingly crafted to satisfy all palates. Both vegan and vegetarian options are available.

Eivissa Jazz Festival 2024

3 - 7 September

One of the white island's stand out music events, the annual Eivissa Jazz Festival is a must for lovers of the genre. Located in the scenic setting of Ibiza's old town, Dalt Vila, it will host a diverse range of Jazz performances - both traditional and contemporary - by local, national and international artists. 

The concerts will take place at in different open-air locations, such as Reina Sofía Park or the Santa Lucia Bastion, all just made for enjoying the performances in the cool September nights while admiring the spectacular views of Dalt Vila, the cathedral and the port of Ibiza.

Entry costs €12, although some concerts are for free.


Live Opera at Beldon Wellness

10 September

Situated in the lovely setting of the beach of Cala Nova, BLESS Hotel Ibiza is proud to present its Opera Spa Night. Organised in collaboration with Beldon Wellness, this very special evening of live opera also invites those attending to check out its different pools and sample a choice selection of mouth-watering healthy drinks and scrumptious light bites.

The exhilarating live performance by an opera soprano is set in a captivating ambience carefully adorned with candles and natural flowers. 

To cap it all, the evening will be further enhanced with chromotherapy to enrich your
sensory experience.


SDL The Rocky Desert Ibiza

14 September

For the very first time on the island, SDL The Rocky Desert Ibiza will take place this month at a magical, as yet undisclosed location. Inspired by the mantra, “Nature, respect, romance, freedom, and community", this party promises to be an unmissable event harking back to the original spirit of underground raves on Ibiza. 

Organised by the renowned promoter Adrián Rodríguez, the line-up will include performers such as Kilimanjaro, Romare, and Gazzievent.

The location, in a quarry, is described as “a desert mountain surrounded by red sand and rocks. A pure and magical place". 

So sort out your best party togs and prepare for a night unlike any other. 


Ibiza Burlesque Festival

14-15 September

Presented by World Burlesque Academy & Sapphira's Showtime, Ibiza Burlesque Festival returns for its 8th year. Featuring high-class international cabaret artists, glitzy pool parties, some of the world's top burlesque performers and DJs, the main shows will take place - as usual - at Aperture Terrace rooftop, in the adults-only Typic Marina Playa aparthotel, located in San Antonio Bay.

Ibiza Beer Festival 2024

20 - 21 September

Now in its 17th edition, Ibiza Beer Festival takes place at the Recinto Ferial, the exhibition hall of Ibiza Town.

The event features over 200 varieties of beer from all over the world, which are sold at more than a dozen stands on the outdoor area of the venue. Meanwhile, on the inside, the second edition of Ibiza Gourmet Festival will be there to tickle the palates of gourmets.

Musical accompaniment is provided by live bands and performances by DJs such as Javi Box and Jordi Cardona on Friday, and Toni Torres and Petit y Vázquez, members of La Movida, on Saturday afternoon.

As per normal at this fun event, you will be able to pay by using the well-known "Birri", the festival coin, which you can purchase at the exchange points throughout the venue.

Running from 19:00 to 02:00, this yearly celebration is a must for food and beer enthusiasts!


Medieval Mariners' Market in San Antonio

26. 27, 28, 29 September

Avast ye! Lovers of all things pirate related will rejoice to hear of the return of the atmospheric Medieval Mariners' Market to the resort of San Antonio.  

The maritime-themed merriment will feature all sorts of bounty ranging from high-quality handicraft and exotic food to live performances by singing buccaneers and dancing mermaids.

This magical annual event is a trip back in time to a place full of mystery and entertainment.

Bring the whole family for four amazing days you will treasure forever. 


Ibiza Triathlon: PTO European Open

28, 29 September

The tiny resort of Figueretas, wedged between Ibiza Town and the world-famous beach of Playa d'en Bossa, is hosting the Ibiza Triathlon this month. It is part of the T100 Triathlon World Tour.

Consisting of a 100km-long triathlon made up of a 2km swim, an 80km, closed-roads bike course and an 18km run, the event is open to professional athletes as well as amateur participants, who can take part in a wide range of age categories.  

If you're interested in competing for your country, secure your spot in Ibiza today by purchasing a regular individual entry and indicate your interest in racing for your country during the registration process.

Come down to see it in person and cheer them on or watch it via live streaming. 


Sant Mateu Popular Race

29 September

Albeit on a much smaller scale, there's more running this month with the Sant Mateu Popular Race

Held on a two-lap course in the tiny rural village of Sant Mateu, the race is in its 16th edition this year.

There will be two categories, 5000 metres and 10km. The former starts off at 09:25 along with the skating event. At 09:30, the 10km popular race begins. 

Youngsters over the age of two are welcome to join in as from 11:00.  

The organisers - Cursa Pla de Sant Mateu - will donate one euro for each finisher to a charity association.


San Miguel Patron Saint Festivities

29 September

Located in the north of the island, San Miguel and the popular nearby resort of Puerto de San Miguel  celebrate their patron saint this month. As ever, there will be a traditional Mass, a procession, exhibitions of farmers' dances and an eclectic programme of activities designed for all ages including painting workshops, art exhibitions, talks, live music, yoga classes, activities and games for children and more. 

Swing by with friends or family to enjoy a great day out in one of the island´s lesser known gems and make sure to check out the town´s impressive church on the hilltop above it.
