Community-focused OFF BRAND starts monthly parties at Akasha

Placing people and community at the forefront.

Starting this May, kindred spirits join forces for a series of very special, highly intimate Friday parties at Akasha. OFF BRAND is the manifestation of four men's frustrations with modern club culture and their refusal to concede defeat.

Geordie DJ and producer Man Power has always promoted a DIY, community-focused form of clubbing.

Whether that be via his grassroots creative hub Are You Affiliated in North Shields or his record labels Me Me Me and Cheap Thrills, Geoff Kirkwood embraces the scene's working class roots whilst spurring modern day capitalist interests.

In his existing projects, he's achieved this by removing price as a barrier for entry and elevating the importance of music and the dancefloor experience above corporate profits, gimmicks and hollow marketing patter, hence "off brand".

These are values shared by his partner and fellow resident Ewan McVicar, who has achieved similar success in his Ayrshire birthplace with boutique festival Pavilion.

Together, they are linking with seasoned Ibiza promoters The Brothers Grim (pictured below).

What better alignment of these values than the treasured 300-person capacity space Akasha in Ibiza's north?

The club prides itself as a counter-movement to the machine of the super-club dominance in the island's south.

Man Power said of the collaboration, "We took a long time to find a venue that could work with what we wanted to do.

We've picked a space that's the right size for us to fill with some of the most exceptional DJs we know in a way where we don't have to compromise, and we've found a space that allows us to keep things as affordable as possible."

Attendees are promised longer sets, lower prices, more diversity and a complete rejection of VIP culture.

OFF BRAND opens on 23 May and returns monthly on the following dates: 20 June, 25 July, 8 August and 26 September.

Although weekly line ups are still TBA, confirmed to be playing this summer are Heidi Lawden, Lex Wolf, Paramida, Roman Flügel, Rosie and more.

The five episodes form the bulk of nine dates The Brothers Grim have locked down at Akasha in 2025. Their own party series, Tales of the Unexpected, handles the other four and launches tonight.

Tickets for all five OFF BRAND parties are on sale now and can be purchased below, starting from the very reasonable price of €15 plus booking fee.
