Ibiza Coronavirus Update (18) 7-5-2021

Rejoice!.

The de-escalation of the state of alarm continues, with another, very welcome easing of the restrictions placed on our beleaguered hospitality industry. After 2 weeks of encouraging improvements in the epidemiological situation, Ibiza and Formentera have now been reduced to Level 1 (situation in control) of the Govern Balear’s classification.

All of the terms outlined in our last update remain in place, but bars and restaurants will now be allowed to open 100% of their exterior areas, all day long, from 07:00 to 22:30, 7 days a week.

In Formentera the situation is even better – bars and restaurants are permitted to open up to 50% of their interiors too.

These rules will remain in place for at least the next 2 weeks, until 23 May, when the situation will be reviewed once again.

There isn’t too much more to report at the moment. Other than to repeat that the plan is to contain any chance of another outbreak until the end of May in order to give the vaccine roll-out chance to take effect and to prepare for the anticipated influx of travellers in June - which we wholeheartedly support.
