Things to do this month on Ibiza - February 2020

The best of the month to come.

As we move into February, it's still about getting out and about and keeping up our New Year health plans with walking or even running in nature. As the days get slightly longer, it's a great time to enjoy the food events on the island too. With the arrival of carnival time across Ibiza and on Formentera at the end of the month, it's time to celebrate and so we shall.

For a full low-down on the best places to let your hair down, see our February Ibiza party guide.

Bargain meals out

Throughout February

In the low-season have a slap up meal for less in one of the many events typical of this time of year. In Ibiza Town it's a culinary tour of local and international cuisine with Patrimoni Gatronòmic: three-course meals taking you from Ibiza to Vietnam, Peru and beyond. Santa Eulalia's Gastrojueves gives you half-price meals on Thursday nights in a selection of the town's restaurants too. Fantastic.

Island in Bloom

All month

In a sight that has to be seen, join in the annual pilgrimage to see the blossoms of pink and white almond flowers dotted around the island. For the most impressive sight, head to the valley of Santa Inés, close to the eponymous village by day or by night in the pale moonlight to see the blooms take on an ethereal glow. Several organised walks take place too. Watch this space for more details.

Rolling stones gear

1-15 February

Rolling Stones' fans should head to see a great collection of memorabilia being loaned by super-fan Alberto Sánchez-Runde. To see one of Ronnie Wood's guitars, gold and platinum albums and more, head to San Antonio's Far de ses Coves Blanques to see an exhibition that will leave fans delighted.

Back to the '80s

8 February

And the '90s. La Movida DJs Petit & Vazquez are at the helm of this annual homage to the music of these two decades, part of San Antonio's 2020 fiesta programme. It's incumbent on you to don the right gear, so dig out your shoulder pads, crop tops or just improvise. A night of retro music in the fiesta marquee on the main palm-tree-lined promenade. More details in our February party guide.

Supermarket sweep

9 February

If you are still seeking exercise redemption and your New Year's health resolutions haven't quite lived up to promise, these two races of 23 km or 9 km will get you off to a head start. The Lidl to Lidl race is an annual event. All you need do is sign up and get out your running shoes.

Be my Ibiza valentine

14 February

On the annual day for lovers, could there be more a romantic getaway to enjoy it than the White Isle. Meander through Ibiza Town's old town, take a trip out to the rock of Es Vedra and then finish up with dinner for two in a romantic restaurant. We'll be publishing a round-up of eateries with themed dinners soon, so keep an eye on our magazine.

Carnivaaaal!

20 February and 25 February

A favourite event on the calendar and for us at Ibiza Spotlight is carnival time, taking place in many of Ibiza's main towns and on Formentera. Processions of themed floats, dance displays and a sea of smiling faces await you as the island comes out of it's winter spell. Enjoy the first sniff of spring in a celebration that sweeps both islands. A must visit. More details and timings coming soon.

Walk the walk

28 February

Are you up for a big walk to discover the island's natural beauty, perhaps even stopping for a thrilling dip in the cool February sea? You are in luck as this month's Walking Ibiza's “BIG walk” on the last Friday of each month, this time takes you over dirt tracks from Santa Eulalia through to San Carlos, via Cala Nova beach and back again, covering over 21 km of terrain. Walks for all levels are available throughout each week.

Go Formentera!

29 February

If it's a trail run you want, head to Ibiza's sister island for the 2020 Formentera All Round Trail. Choose from three trail runs of 72.5 km, a medium-sized 40 km one or a wee one of just 20 km. It's a combination of running on flat surfaces and hiking up steeper gradients and is guaranteed to keep up your fitness level, which by the way needs to be high.
