Things to do this month on Ibiza - June 2017

Make the sweet transition into summer with movies, music, fiestas and a gay parade.

June is the month that Ibiza officially makes the sweet transition into summer. What better way to celebrate than with music, movies on the beach, traditional fiestas and modern ones like Ibiza Gay Pride. Here are our choice picks of some of the best things to do on Ibiza right now.

Movies on the outside

Cinema Paradiso puts on original language open air movies all through summer at various locations. Drop by Santos Ibiza Coast Club, Amante and the ramparts of the medieval citadel in Ibiza Town. On Tuesday 13 June, cult classic Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas comes to town with classic titles like El Mariachi and The Big Lebowski later in the month. Unlimited popcorn, a big beanbag and a glass of cava for just €30.

Magical underground

Let yourself go at WooMoon

Save the date: 25 June. WooMoon is back at the mystical Cova Santa with eleven dates. This event holds the title of being one of the most unique parties on the island. Imagine an experience like no other, fuelled by ethnic underground music and creative storytelling moments.

Hï kickstarts Eric Prydz residency

Hï Ibiza, the new club that has risen from the ashes of the fabled Space, is just getting things started: Eric Prydz will cut the rope for his 10-date residency on 20 June. The Swedish DJ is best known for his mind-blowing light show and joining him for the opening will be Agoria, Cristoph and Guti (live). The combination of a brand new nightclub and a brand new residency will be shaking the island with energy.

Gay Pride paints a rainbow

Hot to trot: Ibiza Gay Pride parades the town

The three-day celebration begins 14 June and ends on 17 June when the famous gay rights march takes place, starting as usual next to the port area on Avenida Santa Eulalia in Ibiza Town. This year's parade is set to be big following last year's scaled down version. Bottom line: you will want to be here for this and make your way around the streets in a profusion of colour, laughter and excitement.

Update: the full and complete programme has just been released and can be viewed here.

Baptism of fire

Saint John (San Juan) in Spain is mainly celebrated on the eve of the saint's day on 23 June each year. This midsummer night sees bonfires in squares and on beaches across the island. At midnight toss your written wishes into the fire so they will come true. The village of San Juan on 24 June is the place to be for the more traditional island fiesta celebrations with Ball Pages folk dancing, even a solemn mass if the mood takes you. Day or night, you decide.

Get inspired at the Museum of Contemporary Art.

If there's one thing Ibiza is known for, it is the art that hides around each corner. Ibizan artist Irene De Andres showcases her works that link closely to the island. Other popular work by the artist includes a project on abandoned nightclubs. Catch the exhibition between 1 June - 31 March.
