Itaca is one of the main players in the San Antonio bar scene. Its mantra is 'by day, by night', and the venue whole-heartedly lives up to this motto. Situated in the middle of the San Antonio beach strip just a few metres from the shoreline, Itaca opens up for a busy late breakfast service and stays lively well into the night.
The menu offers fairly basic grub but done well. You can be sure to get something tasty and filling here, and with the English breakfast option available into the afternoon, Itaca is a popular place for holidaymakers and workers alike to start getting back in the game after a big night out. It's a very social venue, so a stop for lunch at Itaca might mean quietly people-watching as half of San Antonio walks past you on the beach-front boardwalk, or more likely it might mean making new friends at the table next to you and throwing previously made plans out the window.
As well as a restaurant and bar Itaca is a party venue, hosting many pre-parties, after-parties, workers' parties and soirees of their own during the summer. The venue is bigger than it seems at first, with both a front and back patio, two levels of indoor club and a roof terrace, which has been the scene to many of the best-loved San Antonio parties. While workers' parties at Itaca might be more simple (a few deep house DJs and a lot of young people dancing), Itaca has also been known to throw a bit of superclub extravagance into its evening entertainment, with live percussion, saxophonists, sparkling dancers and sequined drag queens all making appearances throughout the season. Sections of Itaca are also available for private party hire.
