Ushuaïa 2016 opening party line-up drops

Well, not a lot of people saw that one coming...

It wasn't all that long ago that we were talking about the date being set for the Ushuaïa opening party, and now, mere days later, we have the full line-up.

Saturday 28th May is the date you need to remember, but now to the nitty gritty details. Obviously, the biggest shock of the party is the announcement that Richie Hawtin will top the bill. Richie has only played the venue a handful of times as guest to the likes of Luciano back during his Vagabundos parties, and given that his style rather suits a more stripped down industrial feel than what Ushuaïa typically offers, it'll be interesting to see how everyone adapts. After recently announcing ENTER. would not be back on the island, it's a welcome, if not surprising, insight into his 2016 plans.

Ushuaïa favourites in the form of Andrea Oliva, Maya Jane Coles, Joris Voorn and Los Suruba - fairly regular guests at Ushuaia for Ants predominantly - will feature across the day-into-night party. All of these guys are headline acts in their own right, so you can be sure you'll want to be there from the start. In previous years Maya Jane Coles has played early afternoon, much to the disappointment of those arriving later on.

Fresher faces to the Ushuaïa stage will be number one free-party holder Guy Gerber, still beaming from 2015's season of memories at Beachouse, Richie Hawtin's ENTER prodigy Hito and respected UK selector Hot Since 82.
