Last year Swedish House Mafia fans everywhere mourned the loss of the progressive house trio. But all was not lost, as although two thirds of the band Sebastian Ingrosso and Axwell had departed from their fellow Swede, they headed over to Ibiza to start their new summer residency at Ushuaïa - aptly named, Departures. Now in its second season, it's one of Ushuaïa's busiest parties, as the boys and their big-name guests pull in the crowds every Wednesday night. The opening saw the pair joined by Alesso and since then the likes of Kiesza, Otto Knows and Jess Glynne have all taken to the domed stage.
With chart topping DJs serving up an accessible mix of the biggest house and dance tracks, Departures is the kind of party than can be - and is - enjoyed by the masses. Not to mention that the nice people at Ushuaïa don't just cater for your ear holes every Wednesday evening; with dancers, acrobats and pyrotechnics galore, they serve up more than enough for you to feast your eyes on too, you lucky things.
Joining Axwell and Ingrosso next Wednesday will be baby faced Dutch producer Oliver Heldens, hitting the crowd with his recent smash Gecko, which will no doubt get everyone singing along with powerhouse Becky Hill's catchy melodies. But if you're not around on the island next week, not to worry because there's lots more alfresco fun to be had in the coming month. Wednesday the 30th July sees the boys hand over the reigns to four pairs of very capable hands, belonging to Alesso, Martin Garrix, Tove Lo and Otto Knows. Dirty South will then be taking to the stage with the Swedish House Mafia pair on 6th August, before Alesso and Oliver Heldens come back for round two on August 13th (or round four for Alesso if we're being precise - he just can't keep away).
So if you're heading from Miami 2 Ibiza, need an Antidote to your 9-5, or simply want to Leave the World Behind, Don't You Worry Child because forget heaven, WE have a plan for you and it's called Departures. You can thank us later.
Tickets are priced at 55€, or if you're around for the closing on the 3rd September you can grab yourself a one for 50€.
