Pure Form Ibiza is the talented collective of jewellery designers that come together once a year to showcase their latest creations. However typical of both creatives and Ibiza generally, there always has to be something more. This year, their third on July 12th, involved a full outdoor, beautifully lit catwalk show. Was this the something more? No, not yet. However having stunning models wearing clothes designed to compliment the jewellery was a good start...
Choosing the gorgeous Atzaro hotel for this night of very real talent and glamour, the event attracted jewellers of such calibre that it all sized up to be a 'not to miss'. Jewellers like Emma Chapman, her creations featured in Harpers Bazaar, Vogue, The Times, and pieces found in the National Portrait Gallery and the V&A, flew in to take part. Grabbing a glass of champagne in the warm summer evening air, Emma and her fellow creatives were there to chat with you, there to let you pick up, try on, admire and purchase (yes, I did) their creations.
Before the catwalk commenced, singer Natalie Matos stopped a few people in their tracks with some personal compositions. I have to admit myself included. I thought I was listening to a crystal clear recording of Tracey Chapman! Fabulous voice.
The catwalk show itself was superb. This may not have been Kate Moss and friends but aside from the lack of names, you wouldn't have known otherwise. Gorgeous women, beautifully made up, glided before us. With the number of flashes going off you'd have been forgiven for thinking it was London Fashion Week!
I'm not sure quite what I expected but it truthfully wasn't an event of the calibre I enjoyed and enjoy it, I did. Those unexpectedly good nights are always the best fun, aren't they?
Make a note and treat yourself next year - it's a good night!
Liked: Being utterly surprised by the professionalism of everyone involved. The models looked like super models, the jewellers had real talent, the singer wowed.
Didn't like: I arrived early to enjoy dinner at Atzaro and nearly dropped dead when presented with the bill. The first error was corrected but despite challenging the other concerns (three times!) I was fobbed off. So I paid the bill, thoroughly dissatisfied with both the price & (lack of) explanation. I expected much better from such a venue.
