The Ibiza gastro season kicked off last week with Tapavi in Santa Eulalia and continues next week when San Antonio hosts the 4th edition of Restaurat. A success every year for restaurants and punters alike, Restaurat brings together 22 eateries in the whole borough who provide 3 course meals for a mere €14.

Every year they showcase the traditional country cuisine of Ibiza and use as many local ingredients as possible and this year the main theme is the cabbage, which you can see on the flyer for the food fest which I've used a thumbnail for this news item.

Some of the best restaurants in San Antonio are involved, and take it from me, the dishes produced are top quality, great value for money and full of country goodness, just right for a chilly winter's night. Not only is the food economically priced – at €14 I might even take my wife along too, as long as she promises to go Dutch – but also there are usually some good special offers on wine as well. I paid about €12 for a Lopez de Haro Rioja in Zebra last year, and €10 for a Can Rich from Ibiza the previous year, so really good value.

Diners get to cast votes for the best restaurant and last year Zebra were the well deserved winners. I've unashamedly used photos from one of my personal favourites, El Quijote, which produces some of the most creative tapas and pintxos on a daily basis, winter and summer, is small but perfectly formed with a homely friendly atmosphere AND has some great live Jazz with San Antonio's picturesque church as a backdrop.
