Right in time for the start of the 2025 season, Bodegas Can Rich has announced a strategic relaunch with its 2024 vintage, aiming to elevate the profile of Ibiza's wine industry. The family-run winery has recently appointed Álvaro Pérez Navazo as its new technical director. With 27 years in the wine sector, Pérez Navazo brings a wealth of expertise in production, strategic marketing, communication, and sales to the job.

As part of its renewed vision, Can Rich has assembled a team of advisors specializing in viticulture and terroir-based winemaking. This initiative focuses on sustainable and precision organic viticulture, incorporating advanced tools and techniques to optimise grape quality and maturity in response to climate change.
A fresh identity, a new collection
A key aspect of the new strategy is the restructuring of the brand's portfolio into four distinct product lines. The wines have been refined to emphasise aromatic, fresh, and typically Ibizan characteristics, aligning with the growing demand for high-quality local products. Recognised under the Vinos de la Tierra de Ibiza designation, these wines are tailored to the island's peak wine consumption period from April to October.

The 2024 vintage will also debut a redesigned image for the Can Rich range. The new labels are modern, lightweight, and suited for seasonal service, covering Can Rich Blanc, Can Rich Rosat 2024, and Can Rich Negre 2024. The latter, with enhanced fruit intensity, is designed to be enjoyed chilled at 12-14°C.
Preserving Ibiza's viticultural heritage
Beyond winemaking, Can Rich is committed to preserving Ibiza's landscape and historical viticultural heritage. The winery collaborates with the Consell d'Eivissa on a project to recover and study native grape varieties. This initiative, launched in 2013, has identified several local vine species, some of which are now under evaluation for commercial viability.

Currently, the Grec, Morsacá, and Monastrell Moll varieties are undergoing registration with Spain's Ministry of Agriculture, with further applications expected this year. Can Rich sees this project as a step toward reviving Ibiza's nearly forgotten winemaking traditions, reinforcing its connection to the island's history and culture dating back to Phoenician times.
