Calling all thrill seekers, adrenaline junkies, or, just anyone looking for an out-of-the-ordinary culinary experience, that isn’t afraid of heights!
You may have seen this concept taking place in other major tourist destinations around the world including Paris, Dubai, Monaco, Hong Kong, Las Vegas and Berlin, but you can now enjoy your Dinner In The Sky right here in Ibiza.
This riveting attraction is perhaps the world's most unique dining concept, as Ibiza In The Sky uses a crane to raise a custom-built platform for up to 22 guests, 50 metres into the air for a culinary experience like no other.
Yesterday, Team Spotlight had the chance to experience it firsthand, and it truly did not disappoint.
Upon arrival at the Instagram-worthy reception area, we were warmly welcomed by two enthusiastic staff members. The first questions asked were, "Strawberry or mandarin? Rum or gin?", our host then disappeared to prepare our first welcome drink. Talk about top-notch service!
From couples to groups of friends, everyone was dressed up to the nines in their best evening attire to experience this unique take on dining out.
After being securely strapped in and briefed on all the safety regulations by the attentive team, the crane was ready for takeoff, and so were the onboard DJs.
As soon as we lifted off the ground, the atmosphere transformed. The adrenaline rush was palpable as we ascended higher, revealing a breathtaking view of San Antonio. The sunset painted the Mediterranean horizon with spectacular hues and was truly a sight to behold.
The two female DJs got the vibe just right with their eclectic mix of Latino and Afro House blends. My auto Shazam was on for the entire duration, capturing the endless stream of great tracks the duo brought to the table.
Once we reached peak height, the cocktails started flowing. From classics like espresso and pornstar martinis to mojitos served in lightbulb glasses, wines, and of course soft drink options, the variety was impressive for such a small platform. Hierbas Ibicencas was also being handed out like water.
Our first taste of the experience was a melon appetiser, with mint, lime, and feta cheese, hinting at the mouthwatering textures to come.
Next, we enjoyed a rich-in-flavour burrata with homemade pesto, tomato, and pumpkin seeds as a starter. The main course was tender veal with Dutchess potato and a rich gravy, followed by a sweet chocolate sphere dessert that melted away onto the plate.
The friendly chef and waiting staff were reassuring, especially when my vertigo began to kick in. However, with so much happening and stunning views all around, my fears quickly vanished, allowing me to fully immerse myself in the experience.
Though only an hour in total, what you get out of this unusual escapade is something that you'll remember forever. From the sunset views, delicious array of plates, the immaculate service, and making new friends, all whilst 50 metres up in the air, as you can imagine, this really is a one-of-a-kind way to dine out on Ibiza.
