Monday on blues on Ibiza? No such thing! Especially when Sonny Fodera and Danny Howard are bringing the heat to their Amnesia Presents residency every week.
Back for a third season of packing a punch into Monday nights, Amnesia Presents is the ultimate fix of radio-ready Tech House and vocal House goodness combined with immaculate dancefloor vibes.
Now that the party has extended into Amnesia's Club Room for 2024, attendees are treated to an even bigger parade of DJ talent from huge hitters, to the breakout underground names everyone will be talking about in years to come.
Faced with a Monday evening to spare and feeling well in need of some outrageously fun summer House, we hit the town for Amnesia Presents with Sonny Fodera and Danny Howard.
Pre-party: we start at Café Mambo at sundown
When you're on holiday, who doesn't like to get the party started early? Luckily for us, Café Mambo is the spot for Amnesia Present's weekly pre-party with Danny Howard on the decks.
First, food. Café Mambo offers tasty sharing plates and an extensive selection of main dishes. On a nearby table, tonight's DJ line-up Oden & Fatzo, Sammy Virji, Obskur and Saffron Stone plus entourage are enjoying their own pre-game meal.
We take the opportunity to indulge in several of Mambo's strawberry daiquiris as we people watch.
Another glowing sunset goes down on Ibiza and Danny Howard assumes his position in the booth, dropping nothing short of absolute dance classics. Of course, his peers are in on the action too, bouncing around in the DJ booth.
A trays of shots appear and it's clear we're in for a big night.
Amnesia calling
After pulling up at Amnesia, the Terrace is already starting to pick up pace shortly after midnight. UK DJ and producer Saffron Stone is caressing the dancefloor to a Tech House momentum. It's always beneficial to arrive early and catch the warm-up.
Other names playing in this slot this summer include Greta Levska, Paisley Jensen, Lucy Jane and another name you should start to familiarise yourself with (although we're already well accustomed!), our own Lissy Lübeck.
We knock-back another tequila and before long, it’s time for another round of Danny Howard.
Packing in jackin' hot House grooves, Danny Howard's latest release Keep On proves a winner amongst his selections of heavier, underground cuts. Who can resist singing their heart out to opening line "baby, I don't know what I should do" signalling Denham Audio's Make Me.
Here to wow with one of their epic live sets is everyone's favourite space cadet trio, Oden & Fatzo. Although not clad in their astro suits, the collective entered the booth with clear intent on rocketing Amnesia's party goers to another galaxy.
Teasing the unmistakable bassline of 2021 hit Lauren into the mix, holding off on that all important drop, tonight Oden & Fatzo were not messing - the vocal House banger played out in all its glory.
Calling for an outburst of singing from the buzzing crowd, you immediately know you're experiencing one of those magical Ibiza moments. Other guests appearing this summer include LF System, Belters Only, Arielle Free and Chris Lorenzo.
03:00am rolls around and when Sonny Fodera cranks up the party energy another notch, you can't argue that the Aussie knows exactly how to work the crowd and the roof is raised.
Between his own sun-soaked House tracks such as last year's song of the summer contender Asking, which still pops, are fun-loving chart-infiltrators like D.O.D.'s Sleepless.
Amongst the non-stop dance bangers, Sonny winds down the tempo for a moment on You & Me (Flume Remix). Putting the ecstasy-inducing build to its limit and encouraging the entire room to clap along, once that famous drop hits, it's all systems go on the dancefloor.
There's also the second room where things get a bit heavier. Here, names like Sammy Virji, DJ EZ, Obskur and Todd Edwards play tougher House music dubbed with influences of UK Garage.
A night for the ladies
Crucially, you don't need to be a House music aficionado to get in on this party. It's one for the musical masses. All about bringing the feel-good vibes and living it up in the moment and ultimately, that's the Ibiza way, right?
We only deal in stonewall facts at Ibiza Spotlight and it's no lie to state that Amnesia Presents has one of the best female:male ratio splits of any club night on the island.
Maybe it's the "something we can dance and sing-along to" accessible music policy, or maybe there are other factors at play?
Sonny is quite the heartthrob, and that in itself is enough to attract its fair share of lady admirers. Whilst we acknowledge his pin-up status, we reject the notion that he's the only bit of eye-candy on display... We present exhibits A to D:
Two hunks for the price of one! No wonder the ladies come flocking to Mondays at Amnesia.
