Highly-respected Dutch party collective SlapFunk transforms the intimate confines of Las Dalias' club Akasha this weekend. The San Carlos nightspot will become a haven for lovers of funk-infused grooves on Friday 21 June.
Originating from the underground rave scene in Utrecht, but now firmly embedded in iconic Amsterdam venues such as BRET and Lofi, few parties are currently as hot as SlapFunk.
On Friday night, you can expect its distinctive musical attitude to dominate Akasha's state-of-the-art sound system, kickstarting the weekend here on the island.
Leading the charge will be resident DJ Samuel Deep, a stalwart of the Netherlands-born brand. His sets are known for their infectious energy and deep grooves. He will be joined by Hugo Martinez and the A.M. Project. Both will deliver their own unique takes on the SlapFunk sound.
Musos can expect a blend of bass-heavy House, UKG, Breaks, Techno, Minimal and Dub, all underpinned by an unmistakable slap of funk.
With its namesake record label, SlapFunk has been cultivating a signature sound that has become a reference point for dancefloor enthusiasts worldwide.
Now, SlapFunk at Akasha is a rare opportunity to experience this authentic party in one of the island's most intimate settings. As a club known primarily for Deep and Progressive House, this marks an exciting chance to hear a different style of dance music at Akasha.
