Certain music genres just fit in certain environments and situations. Take Deep House and Progressive House for example. These euphoric, forward-thinking, sometimes even ethereal strains of dance music require a particular kind of setting and that setting is Cova Santa.
Outside, with a natural backdrop that is quintessentially Balearic, Cova Santa's prevalent soundtrack has been Deep House for many years now - and it just works so well. Although more recently, other genres have slowly crept into the programme, Deep House still reigns.
This is seen in the club's two flagship parties, but they aren't the only ones.
Here we take a look at which parties you can find Deep and Progressive House in more detail.
The Soundgarden | 24 July & 21 August
Well-watered, tended and bursting with greenery is Nick Warren's The Soundgarden. The label and party series is back for a couple of dates in 2024 and there isn't a better location for it than pine-clad Cova Santa.
Thanks to his long association and friendship with Nick, The Soundgarden is one of the few Ibiza parties Argentine DJ god Hernán Cattáneo plays at. And that means, just like the last three summers, we get treated to one of his epic back-to-backs with Nick.
Aside from these two DJ veterans, you can also catch the likes of Guy Mantzur, Eelke Kleijn, Yulia Niko, Mai Lawson and Gustin.
Cosmic Pineapple presents Sirius | selected Thursdays
Whilst, admittedly, not exclusively Deep and Progressive House (you will also find Techno, Electro and various other strands of electronic music), given the names invites to play, Cosmic Pineapple will showcase its fair share of it.
After many years at Pikes, party curator Kim Booth moved her baby to Cova Santa for 2024.
Already this summer, we've seen dates for Acid Pauli, Josh Wink, Curses, Ben Westbeech and Marc Romboy. Coming up, there's still the chance to catch Danny Daze, Osunlade, Prins Thomas, Mathew Jonson (live) and plenty more.
Aside from the music, Cosmic Pineapple is a multi-disciplinary festival, which features healers and creatives from many different backgrounds and always with a charitable angle. This year, it has partnered with Brian Eno's EarthPercent foundation.
Francis Mercier presents Deep Root Tribe | 11 July & 15 August
Based in New York, but originally hailing from Haiti, Francis Mercier launched Deep Root Records with business partner Ajamu Kambon in 2014. After finding success as a platform for new music, a party series was the next logical way to branch out.
Ten years after the label's inception, Deep Root Tribe has found its way to Ibiza.
The party's ethnically rich sound incorporates Deep House and Melodic Techno, drawing on worldly influences. After success in all the major music hubs in the States, it seems a foregone conclusion that Deep Root Tribe will also flourish here.
Summerians | 23 August only
Led by tribal senior and hippy-spirited Argentinian DJ Kintar, Summerians is a tribal gathering with a melodic Afro and ethnic House heartbeat combined with an anthropomorphic mindset.
Kintar himself heads up Summerians' lone date at Cova Santa in 2024, though other members of his Sudam label are sure to join their leader on 23 August. Having previously held residence just down the road at Blue Marlin, Kintar clearly resonates with this corner of the island.
Masaka Africana | selected Fridays
Fusing Afro, Deep and Progressive House with live instrumentation and tribal percussion, comes Masaka Africana.
Vibrating at the frequency of the planet, Masaka Africana is the ritual experience brought to you by Mickey Dastinz. Masaka Africana only moved to Cova Santa at the start of the 2024 season, but has already established itself as one of the venue's most colourful parties.
The party also includes fire performers, traditional costume and dance.
Storytellers presents Theatre Of Sound | selected Fridays
Who would like a bedtime story? The imaginative Storytellers crew is back for more far-fetched adventure in the San José hillside this summer.
Fusing music and performance, Storytellers creates an immersive experience where the audience becomes an active participant - a character within the pages of Storytellers' book if you will. Artistic performances and themed spaces allow the crowd to live out an unfolding fairytale.
With this year's theme being Theatre Of Sound, you can expect lots of theatrics and a quality deep soundtrack. Kölsch, andhim and Luca Saporito from Audiofly all play this summer.
Woomoon | every Sunday
To say we've 'saved the best for last' discredits the amazing choices above, but it's certainly true that Woomoon is the party that immediately springs to mind when we speak of Cova Santa. Inviting you to love by the moon and live by the sun, Woomoon is a spiritual and sentient being.
Also produced by the creative minds at LunArts agency, you will find an overlap of DJs and live performers as its sister party, Storytellers. You can also count on the likes of Dear Jade, Joplyn, Tanika, rampue and Aigua playing.
With Cova Santa decorated in iconography from the heavenly skies and interactive performances going on around you, attendees will find themselves swept up in the party's magic.
