5 times it rained vocal goodness at Amnesia Presents

Sonny Fodera, Gorgon City and Danny Howard brought the feel-good factor back to Mondays at their opening party.

Last summer, Sonny Fodera, Gorgon City and Danny Howard's joint project under the Amnesia Presents banner proved one of the season's success stories. Curious to see if the boys could replicate things in year two, we headed to the opening party with optimism.

This night is all about the very biggest House music anthems from the present and the past (and even some classic Trance if you have the legs to stay until the final hour - hearing Sandstorm and The Launch on The Terrace still does something to you, no matter your age!).

It's a party where you can come with a group of friends on your holiday, belt out the lyrics to all the tracks you know and love and dance all night long without any pretension.

Here are five tracks from the opening party, one from each of the DJs on the bill, which led to those carefree sing-along moments.

Huxley | Long Summer Night | Aus Music
played by Greta Levska

Before passing the controls over to Danny Howard, Amnesia Present's new warm-up DJ Greta Levska ended on this ten-year-old forgotten gem from Huxley on Aus Music. It proved the perfect segue for the early door crowd to the start of the night for real, as the numbers on the dancefloor noticeably started to pick up.

The lyrics also proved rather prophetic, as we indeed stayed "all night long", all the way to 06:00.

ANOTR feat Abel Balder | Relax My Eyes (Nic Fanciulli Edit) | unreleased
played by Danny Howard

Here's a track that's refusing to go away anytime soon, just because it's so damn infectious. Thankfully for those of us who've heard it to death, Nic Fanciulli has given it the edit treatment and given it some extra welly.

It's unreleased though, so for the purposes of this article, readers will have to make do with the original and use their imagination. But trust us on this one.

This selection marked a palpable shift in the night, as the Radio 1 host embraced his agent, tour manager, family members and childhood friends in the DJ booth and the crowd swelled below them.

Peggy Gou | (It Goes Like) Nanana | XL Recordings
played by Danny Howard

One track destined to be one of the tracks of summer 2023 is Peggy Gou's latest offering. On this reaction, it's clear there's already a lot of love for it out there. The excerpt reminiscent of ATB's 9PM (Till I Come) no doubt furthering its cause.

From front to back, a wave of energy washed over the dancefloor. Although the viral dance routine is yet to be universally adopted, it's only a matter of time before the masses are pulling out Peggy's moves.

ESSEL | Sweat | Toolroom Records
played by Gorgon City

This track is a recent Beatport number one and on this evidence, it's clear to see why. Again, it proved to be another apt selection, as a quick check confirmed the perspiration was indeed starting to run. Thank goodness for the occasional blasts of CO2 cooling us all down.

Right in front of the DJ booth, a bride-to-be in a white veil was hoisted onto the shoulders of one of her hens. It's scenes like this that highlight the open-to-all, escapist nature of this party.

D.O.D feat Carla Monroe | Still Sleepless | Axtone Records
played by Sonny Fodera

By the time Sonny Fodera materialised in the booth just before 04:00, you would have forgiven the crowd for thinning. Not a chance though. Many of them of them had come specifically for him. That loyalty would be repaid in volley after volley of big room tunes.

Perhaps the epitome of a vocal summer track, Still Sleepless is the kind that's holiday-defining.
