Bright, colourful and absurd to the max, elrow is Amnesia's flagship Saturday night. Not only here on Ibiza, but globally, elrow might be the most visible party brand on the planet thanks to the countless viral videos from festivals and clubs around the world.
Much of its success is, not down to the superstar DJs behind the decks but, down to its variety of wacky themes, committed clan of lunatic performers and a level of production that puts other parties in a shade of confetti.
Just like Amnesia's resident crazy gang, we're a colourful bunch at Spotlight Towers as well. Diversity really is the spice of life and that's probably why we gel so well as team, playing to our different tastes, strengths and expertise.
In the carefree and silly spirit of elrow, I speculate on my colleague's favourite themes (probably?) ...
Lissy Lübeck | Far Rowest
cosplaying cowgirl
Anybody who has lived with Lissy will be all too familiar with the occupational hazards it entails. Want to borrow some clothes? Never under any circumstances open her wardrobe. Chances are you'll end up buried under an avalanche of boots, shoes and various other footwear.
She has a particular penchant for boots of the rootin', tootin' cowgirl variety, so shooting from the hip guns at dawn style I'm calling it: Lissy's favourite theme is the wild, wild Far Rowest. Get back on your horse and drink your milk.
Far Rowest is the theme on 3 June
Playing: Andrea Oliva, Cuartero, De La Swing, Fleur Shore, Ilario Alicante (all Terraza), and Kölsch (all night long, elrow City)
James Ledden | Rowlympic Games
Marathonman
During work hours, James can be found hunched over his computer examining code, but when it comes to leisure time he's Spotlight's Mr Active. Surf, paddle board, golf, table tennis, skiing - it's fair to say he puts his Decathlon loyalty card through its paces.
In a past life, he even used to teach windsurf school in Es Canar. We believe there's even a video of some homoerotic Roman-Greco wrestling circulating the darker realms of the internet. A huge advocate of the power of stretching, James is our very own in-house athlete.
Unfortunately, he also spends a lot of time on the physio's bench. This one writes itself: James gets a podium finish for Rowlympic Games.
Rowlympic Games is the theme on 17 June and 2 September
Playing: Alisha, Dombresky, Nic Fanciulli, Tini Gessler (all Terraza) and Patrick Topping (all night long, elrow City)
Casandra Juan | El Rowcio
Dancing Queen
Casandra is our very own native Ibicenca and she shares a lot of qualities with the original Ibiza matriarch, the goddess Tanit. One of her many roles is harvesting the party calendar and keeping the crop of tickets rich and fertile and line-ups up to date.
Outside of the office, Casandra keeps a busy social calendar of her own. One of her favourite pastimes is ball pagès. The traditional milenary dance fuses flamboyant costume, extravagant heirloom jewellery and powerful castanets. Although the exact origins are unknown, its very likely to draw influence from Phoenician, Islam and Christian cultures making it totally Ibizan!
A lover of all folklore, Casandra's theme is El Rowcio, which is loosely based on the Sevillian celebration of Feria de Abril.
Though pedants will correctly point out that, actually, there are many differences between traditional Andalusian and Ibizan cultures, to those people we say that you have misunderstood the light-heartedness of elrow and, indeed, this not very serious feature.
El Rowcio is the theme on 16 September
Playing: Ilario Alicante, De La Swing, Fleur Shore, Manu Gonzalez (all Terraza) and Marco Faraone (all night long, elrow City)
Hayley Morgan | Psychrowdelic Trip
spiritual guide
Hayley is very zen and finely tuned into the cosmos, always keeping her positive energies topped up. When she's not uploading content to our social channels, she's leading yoga classes or spending time getting back to nature. She's even named her car Daisy in the true hippy spirit.
Unlike Lissy, footwear is totally optional with Hayley. Barefoot is best. A lover, not a fighter, this pacifist is a firm believer that every problem can be settled over civilised conversation and herbal tea. No question, Hayley's theme is Psychrowdelic Trip. Namaste.
Psychrowdelic Trip is the theme on 9 September
Playing: Bastian Bux, Eats Everything, Franky Rizardo, Syreeta (all Terraza) and Cloonee (all night long, elrow City)
Jo Dargie | Browheart
The Darg Horse of the Kingdom of Fife
With her auburn hair and broad accent, freelancer Jo is our proud and full-bloodied Scot. We've yet to see her tossing the caber or reciting Robert Burns, but there's strong rumours she owns a tartan bikini. Although she's always content with some tortilla and patatas bravas, she does confess to missing home comforts tatties and neeps.
It has been pointed out that there isn't actually a highland games themed elrow party at present, which is a surprise when you think about it. Missing a trick there, elrow! Still, there is the mystery theme still to be unveiled at this year's closing party, so who knows?
New theme to be announced for 30 September
Line-up TBA
Tickets for all of the above themes and, indeed, all the others in this summer's programme are on sale now and can be found below. All come with our consumer-friendly free cancellation policy, meaning you can book and cancel later for a full refund should your plans change.
