Afro House is far from a new genre, though it's been overlooked for so long it feels as fresh as any new sound that has emerged in the last 20 years.

Saturdays | Black Coffee | Hï Ibiza
Let's start with the King, Black Coffee, and his well-established, long-running party at Hï Ibiza.
Black Coffee has long been considered an ambassador for dance music in his South African homeland. His cultural significance was rubber-stamped earlier this year, when he picked up the Grammy for Best Dance Music Album.
If you needed any more indication that Black Coffee is a big deal, then just check-out who made an unannounced appearance last week. International superstar Drake, who Black Coffee helped produce his most recent album, popped up out of the blue.

Mondays | Sondela | Bora Bora
Meeting at the convergence of Afro-Tech, Sondela finds the sweet spot between the overlaps of Afro House and Tech House. Fronted by Sef Kombo, Kitty Amor and Louie Dunmore, Sondela is the sub-label and party series from Defected pushing this exciting sound in 2022.

Each and every Monday throughout July and August, you can catch Sondela taking over beachside clubhouse Bora Bora from 17:00 to midnight. Already the party has brought some dynamic guest DJs, including Fiona Kraft, Timanti and Sparrow & Barbossa with more to come.

Tuesdays | VOYAGE | Es Paradis
Tuesday nights at Es Paradis fall under the banner of VOYAGE. Like the names promises, you will be taken on a spiritual journey through evocative sounds. VOYAGE covers a mixed bag of music, including Afro House, Deep House and Amapiano, whilst also dabbling in Afrobeat. TICKETS & MORE INFO
Wednesdays | THEMBA presents Colours | Club Chinois
THEMBA was recognised here on Ibiza by winning the DJ Award for Best Afro House DJ in 2019. The South African export has built on that this year, by securing his own residency. The Modern African-producer hosts Wednesday nights at Club Chinois in well-to-do Ibiza Marina.
New for 2022, Club Chinois is the sister-venue of Mayfair's Park Chinois. As well as boasting an amazing sound system, the glitzy nightspot has decor that harks back to the colonial era of 1930s Shanghai. For THEMBA's night specifically, you can expect amazing tribal and Afro House, beautiful nubian dancers and guest DJs that seldom play elsewhere on the island.
That should be enough to get your teeth stuck into, but if you're still seeking a bit more, then it's also worth keeping your eye on line-ups at Akasha at Las Dalias. While the sounds are generally deeper, more organic and ethno there, occasionally it also has Afro House DJs playing.
Plus names like Shimza and AMÉMÉ pop up throughout summer, including parties such as CAMELPHAT and Paradise.
