The island's beaches, clubs, bars and restaurants are buzzing in August. Fortunately, there are still plenty of cultural events taking place, so get out and experience what Ibiza has to offer beyond sun, sand and sea.

BLOOP International Proactive Art Festival
1-20 August
The world's first festival devoted exclusively to proactive art, BLOOP is best defined by its motto, "ART IS FOR EVERYONE".
Based in and around San Antonio and Ibiza Town, it hosts many stimulating live and digital music events, video art, contemporary art, street art and murals, photo exhibitions, sculptures and street performances. What's more, there are lots of creative workshops for both kids and adults, making it a great event for all the family.
Sven Väth at Las Dalias
4 August
"Papa" Sven is coming to San Carlos' famous hippy hangout for a very special, highly intimate open-to-close set.
Part of his Catharsis album tour, he'll start outside on Las Dalias terrace in the evening. Later, things will move inside to Akasha club until 05:00. Hearing Sven play his vinyl on this superb sound system is an opportunity not to be missed.
A very limited batch of tickets is now on sale, but move quickly. For those missing out, an allocation of tickets will be held back for the door at a higher price.
BBC Radio 1 Around the island
5 - 7 August
BBC Radio 1’s annual pilgrimage is back on its traditional first weekend in August.
Moving from venue to venue, the action kicks-off 5 August at Eden for Defected. On-air talents Danny Howard and Arielle Free are joined by John Summit and others. The next day 6 Augus at Ushuaïa, Pete Tong welcomes Hot Since 82, Groove Armada and former presenter Monki to ANTS Invasion for a day-to-night party under the sun.
Things are wrapped up on Sunday 7 August, at Pyramid, where R1 Future Dance hostess Sarah Story is joined by Adam Beyer, Cristoph and Raxon on Amnesia's Terrace with heavyweight Techno in the Main Room next door.

La Movida San Antonio beach
13 August
DJs Petit and Vázquez pay homage to "la movida", the period in the 80s and early 90s when Spain underwent a countercultural revolution of dance, song, fashion and hedonism in the post-Franco era. Put on your best 80s' garb and check out this free open-air dance and music extravaganza on the beach at Platja de s’Arenal in San Antonio from 21.00 onwards.
Ibiza Town: Fiestas of San Ciriaco and fireworks
31 July-15 August
With an action-packed programme combining music, tradition, modernity, sports and activities for adults and children alike, this year's edition has great appeal. The main celebrations take place on 5 August, the day of the Virgin Mary, to honour Nuestra Señora de las Nieves (Our Lady of the Snows) and 8 August, when San Ciriaco, Ibiza Town's patron saint is commemorated.
Whatever else you attend, make sure you don't miss the spectacular the fantastic firework display best viewed from Ibiza's port at midnight on 8 August.
San Bartolome Fiesta in San Antonio
9 August-2 September
Rivalling Ibiza Town's annual festivities in August, San Antonio's Fiesta of San Bartolome is another event you won't want to miss.
Activities include traditional Ibiza folk dancing near the fountains and performances of live music, but the undoubted must-see is the spectacular firework display at midnight on 24 August.
The Perseid meteor shower aka San Lorenzo's Tears
12-13 August
Stargazers wishing to witness one of the year's most impressive meteor showers should definitely put this one in their diary and take advantage of Ibiza's clear skies. Although the fact they coincide with this month's full moon means the shower won't be as visible as in other years. Anyway, get your flask of cocoa, something comfy to sit or lie on, find somewhere with little light pollution and look to the north to make the most of this awesome astronomical phenomenon.
Eivissa Jazz
29 Aug-03 September
A must for fans of jazz, Eivissa Jazz returns with a programme that promises more concerts, activities, and locations this year.
Saga Ibiza Sailing Tour
4, 11, 17, 24 & 31 August
Enjoy an amazing 6-hour daytime excursion to Formentera's turquoise waters onboard a classic schooner. The trip includes cava sangria, a range of tasty refreshments and homemade paella along with fun activities such as snorkelling and stand-up paddle.
