Looming just as pertinently as summer itself, is the Amnesia Opening Party. Always a go-to date in the party calendar, Amnesia opening means the summer has started for real. After two years of closure, this year's edition on Saturday 21 May is all the more special.
These parties have a habit of throwing up some surprises and this recorded set from last year is one such example.
In retrospect, Alex Kennon was on criminally early given what he would produce. Few could have predicted he would play the stand-out of the night beforehand, but everybody was talking about him afterwards.
Alex Kennon understood the assignment. In that moment, all the strife of the 18-months before evaporated.
Thankfully, he made the wise decision to record the set - and we just had to share it with you.
The blistering set features music from Luciano, Bontan and Adrian Hour, as well as Alex's own remix of Chip Butty and the Joris Voorn version of his huge Blinding Lights.
To hear the full, uninterrupted mix, you will need to subscribe to Apple Music.
Listening brings back life-affirming dancefloor moments from last October. We get to do it all again on Saturday 21 May, only this time with no restrictions. Who will play the set of the night this time round?
Tickets for the 2022 Opening Party, featuring Jamie Jones, Nina Kraviz and Maceo Plex, are on sale now and can be picked up below.
While Amnesia opens officially next month, there's also a pair of pre-season parties at the end of the month. Pyramid and a one-off from Defected take place on Friday 29 April and Sunday 1 May. Tickets for both are on sale now. Follow the links to bag yours.
