The return of Ibiza's dancefloors | Week one

Round-up from 8 to 12 October.

It might now be October, but the temperature is cruising at a more than respectable mid-twenties, the sea is still pleasantly warm, there's plenty of space on the beaches, oh, and Ibiza's clubs are about to open - finally! It's been a long time coming...

The return of clubs

Saturday night is alright for dancing!

Easing us in gently (yeah, right!), Eden gets the ball rolling, being the first big Ibiza club to open. The San Antonio venue opens on Saturday 9 October with Pukka Up-production WNDRLND returning to its prime weekend slot.

Retro main man Paul Taylor will be supplying the tunes through Eden's state-of-the-art Incubus Gold by Void sound system. Basically, you'll want to bring your ear plugs!

Tickets are available to purchase here.

Also on Saturday, Pacha Group's prized asset Marco Carola plays its cabaret and fine dining venue Lío. The venue then has its summer closing party the following day, on Sunday 10 October.

At Cova Santa, meanwhile, two sessions programmed by Storytellers this weekend, have individual tickets for island residents available for the first time this summer.

Another certified road block is Monday 11 October. You know the drill. Mondays on Ibiza = Circoloco at DC10 - and we've got a lot of making up to do.

The first of three parties sees Seth Troxler, Tale Of Us, Amelie Lens, Adam Beyer, DJ Tennis, Adam Port, &Me, Rampa, Michael Bibi, Tania Vulcano and more booked to play.

Like us, we're sure you'll be very happy with that line-up. Starting at 17:00 and finishing at 05:00, Circoloco gives us 12 hours of dancing which we're very happy about too.

Once that is done, we'll definitely be allowed to say that dancing is back!

Tickets are rumoured to be available on the door only - first come, first served ie. no pre-sale. Get yourselves down early, is what we're saying.

Outdoors & in the sun

O Beach Ibiza still has a few events happening before it closes later in the month.

The final party dates for Soul Heaven (Saturday 9), House In Paradise (Monday 11) and Kisstory (Tuesday 12), as well as a fittingly solitary date for ONE (Sunday 10) all take place in the next seven days. The venue will be closed on Wednesday and Thursday.

Head here to reserve a bed at any of those remaining dates.

Smaller venues

LiFT, which only had its summer closing last weekend, wastes no time in launching its winter programme. The party run by the Game Over crew is back at NUI in Ibiza Town tonight, Friday 8 October.

Today is also the birthday of one of its residents, Isbel, so a double-celebration with the return of dancing - picked a good day, huh!

Isbel is joined by fellow party regulars Cesar Vinzent and Felipe Bravo.

Sunday 10 October we head to the golden sands of Playa d'en Bossa for the extra closing date of Melon Bomb's beachside soiree at Tanit Beach Ibiza. Anybody fancying that one should make a reservation. Music kicks-off from 13:00.

Of course, we can hardly forget Pikes, which continues its calendar with action at poolside, Pamelas and out-back later on. The stand-out from the week ahead is the rearranged Balearic book launch on Tuesday.

Fans of urban music will also be pleased to learn that local favourite SWAG also opens, Friday through to Monday. Ideal, what with Tuesday being public holiday, National Day Of Spain.

Other events

Today is the final day of A Balearic Beat Hotel. With two-days of music and workshops already done and dusted, the programme ends on a high note.

Godfather of Balearic Beat, Alfredo, plays a four-hour back-to-back with Colleen 'Cosmo' Murphy at Cala Gracioneta. Later Pippi, Jonny Nash and Jamie Tiller DJ from 17:00 to close at Cap Negret's boho outlook Hostal La Torre.

For something else a little less intense, and with food and drink provided, Cuts & Wines stops at El Silencio in Cala Moli on Saturday evening. One for lovers of wine and lovers of meat, Cuts & Wines will be soundtracked by Cici and Andy Baxter.

Not bad for a first week, but even if you're thinking "it's a bit light at the moment", don't worry, there's plenty more to come in weeks two and three!

Head to our party calendar for tickets and listings.
