After a brief hiatus, the Ibiza Light Festival returns for its 5th edition for two nights on Friday 22 to Saturday 23 October, bringing colourful, 3D illumination and illusion to the island’s capital. Titled ‘Inside Out Edition’, this year the festival has elevated from its original home in the port to the beautiful narrow streets and white-washed edifices of the historic old town, Dalt Vila.
Each year the festival celebrates a fusion of art, technology, and culture. Uniting the technological and cultural heritage of Ibiza with the island’s unique architecture. The spectacle is also animated and enhanced by performing artists from Ibiza and other parts of Spain.
With the experimental use of light, the 12 main installations will illuminate around 4500 sqm of facades and surfaces, bringing the iconic skyline of the UNESCO World Heritage Site to life in a way never seen before. The canvas of historic buildings in the old town should make for a multi-sensorial masterpiece that is not to be missed.
Access to the show is limited due to Covid-19 regulations so, for the full effect, guided tours are being arranged leaving from Plaza de España between 20:00 and midnight. Tours are free but it is essential to pre-book in advance at www.eivissa.es.
Installations at this year’s festival will be created by: Improbable Films, Hypnótica, PiroLaser FX, Ataraxia, MadVisuals_Team, Jordi 8Lasco-El Imaginario, ACROBATI-K, Victor Vitorino and Pedro Comesaña.
