Great Christmas and New Year feasts on Ibiza 2020

Celebrate the festive season in style with our top tips.

Christmas is a magical time on Ibiza. The festive feeling is in the air, but without the stress of rampant commercialism. However, if you're scratching your head how to feed the family this Christmas and New Year, or just fancy a complete break from the kitchen chores, here is our annual round up of our suggestions for great places to celebrate the Festive Season with some fantastic food and drink.

Nagai

Road to San Juan

Hugely popular Asian fusion restaurant Nagai is open all across the holidays (except Sundays), with the usual programme of exceptional cuisine mixed with musical entertainment. DJ Clint Lee will be on duty to entertain the guests on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year's Eve, to accompany the incredible fish, meat or vegetarian set menus chef Reina Nagai has devised for these special occasions (drinks not included).

CBbC Marina

Santa Eulalia

One of our favourite restaurants, the glamorous CBbC in the tranquil marina of Santa Eulalia, has pulled out some crackers for the most important meals of the year. Opening all through the holiday season, with special 5-course menus of innovative Spanish seafood and meat dishes for €95pp on Christmas Eve and €100pp on New Year's Eve - both menus include wine and cava. A meal at CBbC always guarantees a rich assortment of flavours, delivered with panache, so we are excited to find out what the chefs come up with this year.

Mira IBIZA

Marina Botafoc

Usually laid back and informal, Mira Ibiza, on the waterfront at Marina Botafoc, is turning on the style on Christmas Eve. With a deluxe four-course menu for €55, including a glass of champagne, this is a great value way to start the holiday season. Frankly, we can't wait to tuck into some seafood bisque, with confit artichokes, and slow-cooked lamb, with smoked aubergine and Port jus, while we wait for Santa to arrive.

Wow

San Rafael

New kid on the scene this year is WOW, near San Rafael. This large country house has been making a stir during the autumn, with its mix of rural and urban decor, an enticing, Portuguese, Italian, French and Japanese influenced menu and great music at the weekends. A €50, three-course set menu, (€25 for children) with a choice of turkey or swordfish, is on offer for Christmas. The festivities will carry on through to Boxing Day when DJ Jo Mills will be relieving the Christmas hangover with her festive selection of uplifting tunes.

The Boat house

Cala San Vicente

This beautiful venue by the beach of San Vicente is looking particularly festive right now. Always decorated to high standard, The Boat House feels even more cosy at this time of year. The restaurant will continue to offer its diverse and varied menu, catering for many tastes, but with some nice seasonal additions; such as turkey with chestnuts and organic vegetables or their special homemade tortellini with lamb ragout. With a delightful sea view and acres of sand for the kids to run around on, the Boat House is a great option for Christmas lunch.

Alma Beach

Port d'es Torrent

Stylish beach club Alma Beach will be celebrating the festive season on the sand of this pretty, family-friendly cove, where the sun always seems to shine. With set taster menus, offering a feast of seafood, on Christmas Day and New Year's Day, and always accompanied by the perfect musical soundtrack, you know it will be a merry old time. The price per head is a very reasonable €90, including the great selection of wines. The tunes come free…

Es Jardins de Fruteira

Santa Gertrudis

Farmhouse restaurant Es Jardins de Fruteira is serving up takeaway banquets for your Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve celebrations. Nativity Roast Dinners of lamb shoulder or suckling pig can be collected on the night and are accompanied by roast veg, mushrooms, and sauteed potatoes. But orders must be received 24 hours before and can be reserved by calling +34 971 197918. The restaurant will be open on 25 December and 1 January from 13:00 to 19:00 with the full a la carte menu for a nice relaxed day in the countryside.

A Mi Manera

San Lorenzo and Formentera

Both restaurants may be closed this winter, but A Mi Manera can still prepare you a perfect Christmas banquet, with an incredible selection from the delicious seasonal menu, including their own organic, home-grown produce. A Mi Manera's chefs will come to your house, finish off the prep and serve for you at your own table. So, if you'd prefer to stay home around the Christmas tree and turn your home on Ibiza and Formentera into an Italian-themed winter wonderland, the cover charge is €120 per person, for a minimum of six. And no washing up...

Social Point

San Jordi

The lively and convivial Social Point in San Jordi is a great place for a group of friends to hang out to celebrate Christmas or see in the New Year. This year, for €40 per head, you can celebrate Nochevieja (New year's Eve) with an informal round of sharing starters, a choice of delicious mains and the Chef's Tarta for dessert, washed down with a glass of cava and maybe some live music. Not a bad way to say goodbye to a terrible year!

Please remember that, due to demand and Covid-19 restrictions, it is essential to pre-book any of these events to avoid disappointment. Have a great Christmas!
