Top 5 Ibiza debuts to catch in 2019

First time's a charm.

Often it might seem that it's the same familiar faces on rotation when it comes to the pool of talent performing on Ibiza. Convinced this wasn't technically true, we decided to shine a light on some of the exciting emerging artists appearing for the first time this summer.

Sven Väth, Marco Carola and David Guetta - today, they are well-established names on the island. Yet their journeys all started somewhere. They didn't become a success overnight. Recent history points to some pretty memorable debut performances.

2016 was the year ANNA touched down, guesting for Solomun +1 at Pacha. 2017 saw the first time that Charlotte de Witte played in Ibiza, while 2018 will be remembered as the summer we were introduced to FISHER - first at ABODE and then at elrow.

Now the Aussie FISHER commands his own residency, proving how quickly you can make an impact. And more. Already in 2019, we have seen rising Polish producer and Kompakt talent Aníi make her debut. The deep house purveyor opened-up during Odyssey at Ushuaïa.

Poland-born, London-based Aníi made her debut on Ibiza on Saturday 18 May.

While a few of the acts listed here may have been playing on Ibiza for several years, we're specifically looking at their first time at one of the island's super-clubs. For these purposes, past appearances at smaller clubs and bars are not being considered.

Alisha, UK

Tech House
9 June

Our first selection is a UK DJ and producer who debuts this coming Sunday 9 June for Toolroom at Eden. With an appetite for brassy basslines and provocative vocal samples, Cambridgeshire talent ALISHA is the embodiment of female attitude.

What makes her presence in Toolroom's roster all the more gratifying is that she is a product of the label's #WEARELISTENING scheme. The directive is designed to balance the playing field and get more women producers signed to the label.

ALISHA is proof that the sentiment behind the programme is genuine and not merely a fancy PR spin. Props to Toolroom for making this a legitimate avenue into the industry. Others will surely follow suit. Just look at the talent waiting to be unearthed.

Later, she's also lined up for two further appearances on 11 August and 8 September.

Chaos In the CBD, New Zealand

House
26 June

More likely to throw up images of picturesque landscapes and geothermal activity, New Zealand isn't instantly synonymous with a thriving house music scene. Kudos, then, to Chaos In the CBD for help turning Auckland into an unlikely global clubbing destination.

Brothers Ben & Louis have been garnering quite the reputation in the southern hemisphere. Now it seems that people in high places have started to take notice. Jamie Jones being one.

The Kiwi pair debut on Ibiza at his Paradise party on Wednesday 26 June. Deservedly so, boys.

Harriet Jaxxon, UK

Drum & Bass
3 September

Already boasting her own shows on Capital FM and Rinse radio, Harriet Jaxxon is the next big thing in bass music. Also capable of mixing it up with house and garage, it seems her priority is conquering the drum and bass universe first.

Experienced beyond her years, she was picked up by Ministry Of Sound at a young age and has since caught the attention of Andy C's RAM Records.

Together and its raucous, up-for-it crowd is the perfect conduit for her to unleash her brand of riotous dance music. Make sure you're in the mixer at Amnesia on Tuesday 3 September. Be certain to wear your gum shield. Boisterous energy.

Innellea, Germany

Melodic House & Techno
19 September

Last year, the duo's hypnotic neo-trance banger Vigilans had us scrambling for the track ID at DYSTOPIA and on Thursdays. It came as little surprise when it was revealed that the Tale Of Us dance floor weapon was a forthcoming release on their label.

Fast forward to 2019 and the track obviously left a lasting impression. Technically, the Munich two-piece debut on Ibiza at DC10 during the one-off Diynamic showcase on 5 July.

However, Karm and Matteo aka Tale Of Us have also invited them to play live at Afterlife on Thursday 19 September. This is the gig we're most excited about. File under: concert techno.

Kraftwerk, Germany

Electronica
13 September

Ibiza has a habit of constantly throwing up surprises, and 2019 has already presented its fair share. Proving that it's not only newcomers who can make debuts, incredibly this summer marks the first time the legendary Kraftwerk will perform here.

Part of Cocoon's epic 20 year anniversary, Sven Väth has put in a big call to bring the innovators to these shores. The boundary-pushing quartet laid the foundations for synthpop, electro and ambient. Where would electronic music be today without their input?

Often referred to as the Godfathers of electronic music, it's little doubt their music inspired Sven in his formative years. The second Cocoon20 concert takes places at Ushuaïa on Friday 13 September. This once in a lifetime performance is frankly unmissable.

Tickets for all the above shows are on sale now. Don't miss your opportunity to catch the next wave of international talent landing on Ibiza. You'll be happy you did.
