A riot of colour with the Ibiza Carnival 2019

Time to hit the streets, cheer on the floats and celebrate.

It's that time of year when Ibiza's Carnival parades hit all the main spots of the island promising a riot of colourful floats with a whole cast of characters from popular culture.

Look out for themes from film and stage like Toy Story, Star Wars and the Lion King. It makes for a great day out and you'll hardly believe it's not summer as all come out to play to see the amazing choreography and costumes on display.

Will Priscilla rule the Ibiza Carnival this 2019

You'll be able to see some excellent dance routines from Ibiza's dance schools, many of which take part with great gusto. All can enter of course, it's not just budding artistes. Last year we saw floats as diverse as a celebration of the Dominican Republic to an hilarious one that reconstructed a rollercoaster.

Each year brings new surprises as everyone vies for the top prizes. This year, there are carnival parades (rúa de carnaval in Catalan) in Ibiza Town (the biggest), Santa Eulalia, San Antonio, San José, San Juan and on Formentera.

Carnival judges in each town will be looking for originality, top choreography and of course great costumes. See our round-up below to find one near you.
