Things to do this month on Ibiza - October 2017

The clubbing season may be coming to an end now that it is October, but that does not mean that there is not plenty to do.

October on the White Isle means a few things but more than anything it means that the long summer is about to come to an end and that the Ibizan "winter" is almost upon us. Clubs are beginning to wrap up their parties so this month is your last chance to get grooving to your favourite DJs.

Also in the month comes a number of different fairs, festivals, and other island activities to enjoy that can only come from the transitioning of seasons. There is plenty to do in Ibiza in the month of October, so if you are planning to stay and unsure of what to do, then here are a few things you should check out.

Which closing party?

While there are a number of individual residencies coming to an end this month, you should take note of the official club closings as they are truly extravaganzas. Ushuaïa closes up shop on 7 October, while sister club Hï Ibiza wraps up its debut season the night after. Also on the 8th is the fabulous HEART Ibiza. Amnesia concludes its season on 14 October, teaming up with WooMooN records to curate the lineup. There's much more information in our October closings guide, so head on over.

A week of Japan

Japanese culture lovers should head down over to Ibiza Town for Japan Week running until 6 October. Held by the folks over at the Wabiza Project, you can see a number of different dances, exhibitions, workshops such as tea ceremonies, Ikebana floral arrangements and more. There are plenty of kid friendly activities as well to culturally enrich your young ones.

Rocking Las Dalias

Just because clubbing is coming to an end doesn't mean that the music is coming to a stop. Las Dalias, the fan-favourite hippy market over in San Carlos, is holding a Pink Floyd tribute concert on 4 October. The event will have free entry from 19:00– 21:00 so make sure to get there on time. This one is also being held under the full moon so it's going to be that bit extra special.

Doing your bit and having fun

There's no shortage of opportunities to have fun and do some good this 4 October. First up, is the Rock the Cycling event on 4 October at the Hard Rock Hotel Ibiza where you can pèdal hard in three different cycling masterclasses. Work up a sweat and and help cats and dogs find new homes. On the same day, love is the drug at Cosmic Pineapple, an event that combines conscious talks, healing, yoga and great music at the iconic Pikes. All proceeds go to a variety of charities.

Ibiza Burlesque Festival

Here's something for the adults who might be into something a little more risqué. Sapphira's Showgirls will be holding the Ibiza Burlesque Festival from 6-8 October at the Santos Ibiza Coast Suites over in Playa d'en Bossa. The beach inspired burlesque festival will showcase international artists, DJs, teachers and more.

Saving the sea grass

For those who have ever wondered why the seas are so clear around Ibiza and Formentera, well it's down to the filtering action of sea grass called Posidonia and it's under threat. Jump on a boat to Formentera for the Festival Save Posidonia from 12-15 October. There will be workshops, music, photographic displays, yoga on Stand up Paddles and even a surf event - all as an homage and way to protect this noble marine plant.

Let there be light

To experience something visually dazzling, then head over to Ibiza Town on 13 - 14 October for the Ibiza Light Festival, which is returning for its second year. The modern art festival aims to transform the most notable monuments and places in Ibiza Town through the combination of lighting, video, sound and scenic arts. Let the familiar become unfamiliar and lose yourself in what will surely be a visual spectacle.

Factory of food

Consider yourself a foodie? If yes, then you will probably want to make your way over to the Ibiza Food Factory in Santa Gertrudis on 22 October. Hosted by eclectic retailer SLUIZ, the event will bring over 20 of the island's best restaurants over into one place along with live music and entertainment for children. Make sure to save your appetite for this great gastronomic event - you'll need it.

Run, run, run!

If you're looking for something that will be physically challenging and push you to the limit, look no further than the 10th Ibiza Trail Marathon on 29 October. The White Isle is abundant with a profusion of different trails that range from both the leisurely to challenging difficulty. Put your training to the test by competing in the Ibiza Trail Marathon that starts and ends in San Antonio. The marathon has three different options to run; an easier 10 km trail, a more moderately difficult 21 km trail, and a difficult marathon trail that is 42 km long. Do you have what it takes to finish?
