David Piccioni, owner of the immensely successful Amante Beach, had the vision to turn a struggling beach bar at Cala Nova into the one of the coolest venues in Ibiza. The first summer season at Aiyanna has been a resounding success - the restaurant packed with satisfied customers and with exciting plans for the future.
Aiyanna is a Native American name meaning 'eternal flower' and the terrace design certainly represents that vision with enormous parasols, decorated with kaleidoscopic fabrics from Guatemala, like huge blooms overhead. The restaurant is decked throughout in solid hardwood, and furnished with high quality hardwood, rattan and bamboo furniture giving an air of Caribbean cool.
Filmmaker Juan Sala had the task of capturing David's vision onto video, revealing the rustic essence of this beautiful venue. Like the waves washing over the golden Cala Nova sand, Juan takes us on a gliding tour of Aiyanna, with smooth camera pans through every elegantly designed area. He guides us from the steps to the beach, across the hardwood decking of the restaurant and bar, to the comfortable lounge, where parents can relax with their kids, and finishing at the lovingly restored Airstream trailer parked in the chill out area, where they prepare health food and fresh juices to take away to the beach all day.
Fittingly, the stars of Juan's video are the teasing glimpses of some offerings from Aiyanna's kitchen; a colourful taboulé with black and white quinoa, a delicate vitello tonato and succulent octopus on a spicy muhammara. With 60 beds on the beach and yoga classes on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, Aiyanna is the perfect daytime paradise for the health conscious diner to spend their day.
