Kenny Dope to land for Wax Da Jam's third takeover 2017

Dig into the foundations of DJ and hip hop culture this week with Wax Da Jam.

Wax Da Jam sent us spiralling down the disco track in July, and for the third instalment we're going in deep with a hip hop and funk jam session.

On Thursday 17 August, you'll be launched into Las Dalias' club room with founder Nightmares On Wax turning the tracks out with prolific US veteran Kenny Dope. Not only do you have these guys weighing in with their selections, as you'll be treated to island resident Harley Maxwell lyrical input and no hip hop event would be complete without a crew of break dancers performing throughout the night to bring that extra slice of hype.

Out on the terrace we'll hear from Parisian beat digger GUTS and seasoned Ibiza DJ Mr Doris. And in addition to the music, we have Ibiza artists Chali Creations and Gerson Adonay Castro who'll be combining their talents on live graffiti art, Wax Da Jam regular Jo Jamface back on make-up duties, and once again the Great Ibiza Vinyl Fair will bring in vinyl from some of Ibiza's most distinguished collections.

As an ambassador for charitable organisation Last Night A DJ Saved My Life, Nightmares On Wax is running 2017 under the motto ‘season of giving.' As with June and July's sessions, 10% of profits will be going to the charity with the aim of building a well in Africa or India.

Nightmares On Wax had this to say about the third instalment:

Our third event for the season is a hip hop and funk jam digging into the foundations of DJ and hip hop culture, with the legend that is Kenny Dope. This will be a musical journey that will take us through the '70s, '80s 'and '90s and will include contemporary act Guts from France who will be playing a 3hr set on the terrace. Plus a live show from the next generation of hip hop, local hero Harley Maxwell. Street art and culture will be evident everywhere, with a touch of Wax da Jam funk and fun. All break-dancers and rappers are welcome to join our dance floor battles & open mic. Remembering this is all for our great cause Last night a DJ saved my life foundation to build them water wells in Africa. Let's go!”

Wax Da Jam welcomes any age from 16 and over and the party happens inside and out, with good food, market stalls and much more from 9pm to 5am.
