The sun has reached its zenith but Ibiza's buzz continues. Being the White Isle's busiest month of the year, August has an abundance of unique and fun things to keep you entertained. From firework displays to open-air cinemas and boat trips, the island has more than you could possibly get done, but it's always great to try. Here's a roundup for the month ahead.
Attend Pete Tong & The Heritage Orchestra at Destino
A special evening for Ibiza, Saturday 5 August sees the Pacha-branded hotel Destino welcome Pete Tong and The Heritage Orchestra for one night only. This event is grand news for all music appreciators out there. The music icon and the 65-piece orchestra will be performing Pete Tong's compilation of house classics, seaming together a fusion of electronic production and orchestral instrumentation. It may just be the best quality music you hear on the island, blending the best of two worlds.
Celebrate the Patron Saint's day of Nuestra Señora de las Nieves
With Ibiza being renowned for putting on spectacular fiestas, Tuesday 8 August brings something extra special to those on the island. Celebrating in the streets of Dalt Villa, residents and holiday-makers alike get to enjoy the celebration of the Patron Saint's day of Nuestra Señora de las Nieves. With a spectacular firework display, processions filled with Ibizan costumes, live music, exhibitions and theatrical performances, this date cannot be missed.
Go to the movies outside
Maybe you're watching the cash or want to experience something a little different during your time on Ibiza. Well, Cinema Paradiso ticks both of these boxes. During the month of August, the open-air cinema brand will be touring around the island bringing you both new releases as well as classic movies. Some of the screenings include the recently released BFG, old favourite The Lion King, plus The Godfather and Johnny Depp's Blow. Screenings are played in their original English version with Spanish subtitles (V.O.S.E), range from free of charge to €20 and include a popcorn and a drink all on a comfy lounger.
Try ladies surf evening - for free!
Every Wednesday, Surf Lounge Ibiza will be inviting all ladies to come and surf for free. Located on the lively promenade of San Antonio, the island's only artificial wave machine goes by the name of FlowRider. Ladies can surf for free from 19.00. FlowRider can accommodate up 20 people at a time and welcomes surfers of all levels, whether surfing virgin or pro. With DJs playing and a place to chill after, make sure you check out the sunset, grab a drink and easily make a night of it.
Enjoy night and day at Kumharas
Situated in Cala de Bou next to San Antonio Bay, the location is quite idyllic. Whether you are an early rising rooster or a night owl, Kumharas has special occasions for everyone. If an owl, evenings at this special hideaway welcome you to catch the best sunset views. Here you can also indulge in a selection of cocktails accompanied by some of the best DJ sessions. If you happen to be an early riser, every morning from 09:30 yoga classes are held for people to immerse themselves in the positive energy Kumharas creates.
Dance at Creamfields at Privilege
As one of the most anticipated weekends here on the island, here's a party you should definitely attend. Creamfields Ibiza is back for BBC Radio 1's extravaganza and under a different roof this year. Privilege will play host to the mammoth festival on Saturday 5 August boasting a striking line-up which includes the likes of, BBC Radio 1 favourite Annie Mac, as well as Above & Beyond, Danny Howard, plus Steve Aoki, Shadow Child and Goldie. Remember to grab your tickets sharpish as this is one of the most popular weekends on the island.
Sail into IBZ Boat Party
New to the calendar this year, IBZ Boat Party has kicked up a storm as they welcome back a very special guest. Judge Jules will be stepping up to the decks on 15 August and sailing away into the Med with you. For four hours, you will hear nonstop classics as you are guided around some of Ibiza's most scenic viewpoints. With an open bar as well a selection of pizza and fruit, you are welcome to come in fancy dress, so get creative and join the nautical adventure.
See San Antonio glisten
Thursday 24 August sees the town of San Antonio light up. On this evening, locals, holiday-makers and people alike gather to celebrate San Bartolome. The popular town fills with people from all across the island. Everyone comes together to enjoy live music ensembles, congregations of folk dancers around the fountains of the square and an amazing firework display when the clock strikes midnight. To get the best view of the town, we recommend heading to Rio Ibiza's bar terrace, located in the San An harbour.
Discover the Posidonia adventure by kayak
Posidonia is a seagrass species which plays a very important part of the underwater ecosystem. For nature lovers out there, this could be the perfect excursion for you. Every Saturday morning during the month of August, Posidonia Ibiza will be offering free kayak tours for you to go and explore the waters. Between 09:30 and 12:00, tours welcome up to 25 people.
