Scuba Ibiza- the best way to experience Ibiza’s underwater paradise

Gaze upon Ibiza’s vast array of sea creatures with a deep-sea venture that leaves you longing for more.

Ever wanted to try scuba diving and observe the beauty of the underwater world? Or even gain the highest level of diving qualifications? Well at Scuba Ibiza Diving Center you can do just that with their professional and fun-filled courses that will certainly leave you, as it did me, with long-lasting memories. Although I'm only 17, for as long as I can remember, I've always been fascinated by aquatic life and this mysterious, unknown underwater world. So, as you can imagine, I jumped at the opporunity to explore the depths of the diverse Mediterranean ocean, and there's no one better with who to do that with than Scuba Ibiza and their 'Try Dive' course.

Scuba Ibiza is the only diving centre on the Balearic Islands with the qualification of PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors) CDC, the highest qualification that PADI gives to a diving centre, and two permanents Course Directors are part of the staff, meaning that when I arrived at the centre, an excited but slightly nervous first-time diver, I felt in safe hands with the expert professionals.

Located in Marina Botafoch, in the Ibiza Town harbour, Scuba Ibiza's highly trained staff ran us through a detailed safety briefing on how to use the equipment and teaching us the signals to use when underwater (as seen in the 4th photo), before cruising out to the deep blue ocean.

With the ‘Try Dive' initiation course- the course for complete beginners- we went out to some islets not far from Playa d'en Bossa. I plunged into the warm, clear water with a trained instructor (1 instructor per person) and dived down to 6 metres below the surface. I had, as does everyone, the opportunity to pose for photos and videos on rocks, the sea bed (without harming the marine life). These photos and videos are then purchasable when you return to shore.

The diving experts pointed out beautiful fish and helped me experience a panoramic view of all the deep-sea life. I saw vibrant coral reefs, filled with vivid and colourful fish, octopuses and barracudas. I felt like I was floating in space, in a trance of wonder and awe as I peered up at the water moving above me and crashing against the reef; an experience that's almost indescribable until you've done it. The jaw-dropping views of the marine world had me gazing at rocks and aquatic animals with intrigue and fascination. ‘What is it? Why is it moving like that?' I pondered to myself. I was truly captivated.

Courses start at €33 for just snorkelling, €75 for the ‘Try Dive' course, €316 for the ‘Scuba Diver' course and €421 for the ‘Open Water Diver+ online theory' course. The latter two courses leave you with both memorable moments and a diving qualification, but must be completed over a few days rather than ‘Try Dive' which is only a few hours. Prices are also reduced if you have your own diving equipment, provided it's safe to use.

Scuba Ibiza is open to everyone due to the ability to present the briefing in 7 different languages: English, Spanish, German, French, Italian, Portuguese and Catalan. Scuba Ibiza also offers hotel pick-up service, free of charge, for any hotel in Ibiza Town, Playa d'en Bossa, San Antonio and Santa Eulalia so don't forget to ring up to book a mini-van if you're not living or staying within walking distance. Make sure you book Scuba Ibiza today for an unforgettable marine adventure!
