Aguamar water park, Playa d'en Bossa, Ibiza

Release your inner kid, cool down and be shot at high speed down a long black tube full of rushing water? Oh, go on then!.

Ibiza, as we know, is stuffed with cool and groovy things to do. Lots of these these cool things are very grown-up and sophisticated, like clubbing at Ushuaïa and lunching at Salinas beach whilst quaffing reassuringly expensive cocktails.

But sometimes, it's nice to be, well, a little more dishevelled?

So I have a confession. An unapologetic one too. I LOVE water parks! And that, Ibiza lovers, means heading down to that legendary strip of hedonism that is Playa d'en Bossa for a full, slap-up three-course meal of fun for starters, lounging for mains and uncontrollable laughter for dessert, yeh!

Aguamar water park is easy to spot, with its funky slides curling and bending their way all around the back of Space discotheque (which happily, it shares a car park with).

And you may have thought that this watery paradise was just for families and kids. How wrong you would be!

As an Ibiza resident for 12 years now, I've been many times with friends. In fact, the sight of hysterically giggling adults shooting out from one of the the park's many watery orifices is absolutely standard dear reader.

We predict Sundays this year will be particularly full of frolicking clubbers, still gleefully waving around their inflatable plastic toys from Elrow the night before, heh.

You'll often find PR teams from lots of the big club nights letting their hair down (again!) and there's a reasonably priced café on-site too, serving hot food and gloriously ice-cold beer.

On the other hand, you can pick up an economical feast from one of the many supermarkets along Playa d'en Bossa and have yourself a leisurely picnic on the many tree-shaded expanses of cool grass.

And of course, there are lockers, sun-loungers and parasols for hire should you need them.

In short, it's a cracking day out and a great alternative to both the constant booming of sound-systems on the beach and the inevitability of scratchy sand in your nether regions. Ahem.

Oh, and you get a discount if you book online! It's just €17.50 for big kids (yes, that's you and me) and €9 for the young ‘uns. Just click here!
