It's the sixth Winter of Love in Ibiza as peace, love and understanding hits San Antonio in yet another outbreak of Flower Power. Hippies all over the island will be polishing up their patchouli beads and letting their hair down at the annual floral love-in this Saturday (8th January) from dusk until dawn.
Like previous years the main party takes place in the marquee erected in San An's main square where DJ's Pharma, Joan de Delta and Javi Box play 7 inchers from the 60's to the 80's after a performance by The Volcanics, a band from Olot on the mainland.
All around town the bars are decorated in the psychedelic style that was so popular in living rooms the world over and are visited by a wagon with live bands playing - The Blues Mafia and Can Raia Rock. This year restaurants in San An will be serving up special Flower Power menus and there'll be a competition for the hippiest vehicle in town - just park your VW Combie in C/-Santa Agnes at 22.00 for judging, the prize is €200, just enough to buy a new one!
All the fun starts just when the Hippies get out of bed – about 21.00 ish and continues until tea time – about 05.00 hours. Our tips are – don't bother with a shower and wear your thermals under your loon pants as it can get a bit parky out there in the middle of the night.
