Ibiza Fog

Yesterday was a warm sunny day in Ibiza – apart from the areas near the coast where visibility was impaired by dense fog. It's an unusual occurrence, the weathermen tell us that it's caused by warm moist air from the land passing over the cold sea.

Somewhere in Ibiza

Because it's so rare, we're just not equipped to cope with it. Planes from Ibiza to Palma, Barcelona and Valencia were either cancelled or delayed by an our or more in the morning. The sun finally managed to burn off the fog by mid-afternoon when things returned to normality.

The entire Balearic archipelago was affected badly with 11 flights cancelled between the islands of Ibiza, Mallorca and Menorca, but the fog had less effect closer to the mainland with some planes delayed but no cancellations.
Meteorological boffins assure us that anyone here on holiday in July is highly unlikely to experience this type of fog!
