There's a major change to the annual Ibiza Jazz fest this year. It's been held at the end of July since time immemorial but this year will take place on the 6th 7th, 8th and 9th of September. The
venue, the baluarte de Santa Llúcia, where you can listen to Jazz under the stars, will still host the festival.
Perhaps one of the reasons for the change is that the
organisation of the festival has changed hands from the Youth section of the Ministry of Culture to the Ibiza Town Council. They reckon that it will be easier to book big name artists at that time of
year when there is less competition from the big cities in Spain and the rest of Europe which also have Jazz festivals around the same time. Plus September is considerably more pleasant and less
humid than July when there are lots of other events going on in Ibiza.
We think the council are on to a winner here, and as soon as the performers are confirmed and announced we'll let you know.
