Who would have thought that as the temperature drops the demand for electricity to heat our homes increases. Records for electricity consumption in Ibiza have been smashed this winter as temperatures have dropped way below normal on a couple of occasions.
On 17th February, a very cold day, consumption hit a winter record 100 megawatts at precisely 8.44pm - just when the adverts came on and everybody went to make a cup of tea! Strangely this doesn't explain why the most consumption ever, 142 megawatts, occurred on the 19th August 2002.
