Ibiza's a Ibiza's association of hamaca hirers is having a bad season. The normally cheery chappies who collect your 3 € fee for borrowing one of their sunloungers or giant brollies have seen their takings drop by a massive 30% this year. There are apparently two reasons for this and the first is the weather. Surprise, surprise, when there's more rain than you can shake an umbrella at, people don't tend to lie about on the beach, they go shopping, so no complaints from Ibiza's association of shopkeepers there! However as most of our rain has fallen in 3 gigantic deluges lasting approximately an hour each we can probably discount the validity of this reason! Secondly and more importantly, there are less Germans here and it is our Teutonic friends who do the most lying about on the beach, usually from dawn till dusk. The president of the association blamed the arrival of the Euro for this situation but added that the strong British pound has helped buck the downward trend in beach equipment hire, so three cheers for Tony Blair.
