Ibiza Spotlight, the island's number one website guide, is seeking native-speaking (or equivalent C2 level) English language, part-time writer with the right to work in EU to join our team. Primarily, this is a role in our clubbing team, although it could overlap with general content should it become permanent.
Does that sound like you or somebody you know? Are you legally allowed to work in Spain? (this one's important) Then your dream job might only be an email and casual conversation away...
The ideal applicant
Successful applicants should be self-motivated and passionate about clubbing and Ibiza in general, with a varied music taste, which should include a strong interest in House music as an absolute minimum, but be open-minded enough to try anything (including Reggaeton!)
Initially, this would be paid remote freelance work and would suit somebody either based in or close to London or Manchester. This is because you would be expected to frequently visit and have knowledge of the nightlife in one of these cities.
This is an entry-level, freelance role, but a great introduction into the world of professional writing. Who knows where you might end up? Many of our past writers have gone on to become full-time Editors, while others have branched out to other roles in the music industry.
Some background in writing, whether that be a personal blog or previously published work, is desirable. Candidates will be expected to submit examples of existing work with their application and all should have familiarity with our website, social channels and content output.
Some understanding of Ibiza's clubbing ecosystem would be beneficial, as would a basic grasp of Spanish (although not essential at this stage).
We don't expect you to know everything, but you should know the difference between Trance and Techno and the difference between Armin van Buuren and Armand Van Helden!
About the job
This is a UK-based (London/Manchester or surrounding areas) freelance role to attend and cover parties in those cities. This may form various different types of articles, including news, previews and reviews and perhaps even social media content on occasion.
Benefits of the job include:
- guest list for parties, often with a +1
- access to interview some of the biggest DJs on the island
- the opportunity to try your hand at a wide variety of features, from news pieces and reviews, to coverage of activities, cultural events and restaurants
- the opportunity to work with us on Ibiza next summer, should the trial period go well
Candidates need to be eligible to work in Spain: either holding an existing TIE (tarjeta de identidad de extranjero, or foreigner ID card) or valid Irish or other EU passport. Sorry, we cannot accept applications from UK passport holders, unless you already have the required paperwork.
