Balearic Day on Ibiza

Celebrate the 'Dia de les Illes Balears' with a wide programme of activities for all ages.

Every year we celebrate the "Balearic islands day" on 1 March and the Ibiza Council presents a great variety of events, with lots of activities taking place from 27 February to 9 March.

The main events are held on Friday 1 March on Vara del Rey in the centre of Ibiza Town. Enjoy the parade of traditional carts, the speech of the president of the Ibiza Council and watch traditional dances, followed by a tasting of local products. Later on, there will be a show of Doma Menorquina (Menorca's traditional style of horse riding), a trote trophy, a petanque tournament, and lots of activities and workshops for children.

On the same day at the Hippodrome of San Rafael there will be a chess tournament (10:30), horse riding (16:00), and another show of Doma Menorquina (18:30).

  • Sunday 3 March - at 9:00 there is a 3x3 basketball tournament in the school Blanca Dona and from 9:00 to 14:00 the Sa Pedrera Sports Center hosts the Base Motorcycling Day.  
  • Thursday 7 March at 20:00 - The Can Jeroni Cultural Centre hosts the VI Festival of short films 
  • Saturday 9 March - The auditorium of Cas Serres welcomes the gathering "Illes per la cançó", where lyricists and singers from the Balearic Islands offer a demonstration of traditional songs.
