Getting there: Reached by bus from the main bus station CETIS on the outskirts of Ibiza Town (find bus timetables here). From the centre of Ibiza town you can take the city boat, via small ferries that take you over the harbour. It's a nice trip with stunning views of the old town. Leave the boat at the stop at Hotel Corso, then walk 5 minutes over the hill on the left side of the hotel. If you feel active, you can also take a leisurely stroll along the seafront past the Ibiza Marinas - from the town centre of Ibiza Town, it is a 20 to 30 minute walk. If you come by car, there is a car park available right next to the southern end of the beach; in high season this is mostly occupied. Alternatively, there is a large free car park right behind the roundabout when approaching the southern end of the beach from the Avenida de 8 Agosto.

The beach

The small resort of Talamanca is just two km from the centre of cosmopolitan Ibiza Town and a short stroll from the marinas, which is why the beach has a truly international character. Cala Talamanca is a long, curved beach that forms an insular little paradise, with soft sand and shallow waters, making it excellent for safe bathing.

A wooden boardwalk runs the length of Talamanca beach, making it convenient to avoid uncomfortably hot sand; you'll find a very good choice of bars and restaurants along its length.

The beach has a quieter atmosphere: bars play music, but the sound is barely audible on the beach. As you walk away from the main part of the beach, away from Ibiza Town, you will see that the seaweed is not cleared away - this is on purpose to protect the sand - but it also means there's lots of space for you to put your towel down.

The middle part of the beach is not backed by hotels. Here you find some vacant, overgrown lots and private houses, some uninhabited and quite neglected, surprisingly, considering the fantastic location and real estate prices on Ibiza.

Following the boardwalk further, you'll reach the stone-paved promenade backed by quality hotels and the small resort itself, which also is a popular residential area. Here you will find more bars and restaurants, where you can dine with wonderful views over the bay and the old town of Ibiza in the distance.

Beach bars and restaurants

You really will find an excellent range of bars and restaurants along the long walkway of Talamanca beach. Rustic bars, quality beach restaurants where you dine with your feet in the sand, Mediterranean eateries offering fresh fish, hotels with gourmet restaurants that are open to the general public and all of them offering dreamy views of the sea.

If it's choice you want, Talamanca really is a great place to stop for a bite to eat. It's much loved by locals too, so you can be assured of quality as well as terrific variety.

Some restaurants are open year round, which is why Talamanca is very popular in the winter months for walks around the bay and lunches in the warm winter sun.

Hotels and villas

Most of the hotels in Talamanca are next to the sea and have stunning views of the old town of Ibiza, especially when lit at night. There are hotels for each budget and taste, including ones which are open year round and luxury 4 and 5-star options.

A great alternative, especially for families and groups, are the beautiful self-catering villas nearby.
