Top 10 Tracks From Ibiza: September 2012

Undeniable and inescapable....

As we come to the final weeks of the season, the quality tunes are coming thick and fast. We've handpicked a choice selection of tracks you will have already heard out here, or are about to hear a whole lot more of. Of course there's too much great music to fit into one article, so your suggestions are welcome in the comments bellow - don't forget to tell us where you heard it!

Check out our picks from last month here, to keep the Ibiza soundtrack rolling.

1. Klangkarussell

'Sonnentanz' (Oliver Koletzki Remix)

Jazzy saxophone and soulful xylophone riffs, combined with a simple but emotive synth progression underneath make it pretty much impossible not to love this feel-good number. Oliver Koletzki has provided us with a slightly faster and more dance-oriented version that we think is best, but the original from Austrian duo Klangkarussell is chilled and lovely too. Sounds best with the sun low in the sky.

2. Shadow Child

'So High'

This swinging and bouncing bass beast with vocal samplings from Toni Braxton's I Get So High has popped up all over the island for a while now, with plays peaking this month. It gets special love in Space, as it is a Moda Black release, the label of We Love residents Jaymo and Andy George.

3. H.O.S.H.

'Woohoo'

Fresh off the press, this soon-to-be party anthem was only released today (September 17), but as been absolutely rinsed by the Diynamic team on boat parties and, of course, Sankeys in the lead up to this date. An easy one to sing-a-long to (hint! Lyrics are in the title!), we promise this will be in your head for better or worse all month.

4. Mark Henning

'Trojan'

Deep, dark and a bit nasty, this has weaved its way into many a set in the black hours of the morning. A Cityfox release heard most at Amnesia and Space Terazza (from our very own competition winner Steve Toombs), this track from the UK born, Berlin based Henning has the underground sound all over it.

5. Hunter/Game

'Don't Feel The Presence'

A Hot Creations release was bound to make it onto this list again, their smooth sound being ‘so hot right now' on the island this season. We've heard this one get knocked out in bars all over, in Space, in Sankeys and most frequently, of course, in DC-10.

6. Róisín Murphy

'Simulation' (Mano Le Tough Remix)

Mano le tough has toyed with the sexy vocals of Roisin Murphy and churned out a quality deep house track that's been getting all sorts of love lately, especially by (but not limited to) Solomun and his Diynamic cronies at Sankeys.

7. Uner

'Sol'

With 12 minutes to play with, this track creeps up on your ears slowly, but develops into a truly pleasurable aural excursion. The glockenspiel-style melody tinkling over a steady beat has blissed out crowds in Cocoon Amnesia and Space Discoteca (courtesy of Mr Sven Vath) and at Sankeys, delivered by Uner himself.

8. Lee Curtiss

'Body Twitch'

This kinky little number goes down well in many different situations and always brings a grin to everybody's face (hint – don't listen to this one with your mum around). Released on Visionquest, it was first picked up by us on the Alex Niggeman Spotlight Podcast, but we've since clocked it in Space Discoteca, Carnival at Sankeys and Visionquest at DC-10.

9. Martin Patino

'Mindgames' (Andrea Oliva Darkbeat remix)

Released at the end of august on Saura Music, Mindgames is a cool and cruising number we've grown to love. Championed on the island by the Cadenza team at Pacha, where Andrea Oliva is a resident after all, this remix is spreading across dancefloors like the Plague in Medieval Europe (but with less death).

10. Hot Chip

'Flutes' (Sasha remix)

The original mix being one of the best tracks from a stellar album, this tune has been popping up on the island in various incarnations since it's release in June, for example Pete Tong has pushed his own remix on his Friday night at Pacha. September, however, will finally see the release of Sasha's own remix, which is our favourite here at Spotlight. Already a stalwart sound of Sasha's Fridays at Ushuaïa, you can now expect to hear a lot more of this remix as other DJs get their paws on it.
