Hosting a party which has a varied line up each week is normally quite a good thing with new or big names attracting a crowd but when you have to compete with the likes of Tiesto, Swedish House Mafia and Cocoon you're going to have a fight on your hands.
And such for the case for Monday's Calling presents Toolroom Knights, which, despite being hosted at one of the world's favourite clubs and in the popular Playa d'en bossa resort, showed you can't guarantee a crowd in Ibiza. Space had closed off the Main Room, the Premier Étage and El Salon, leaving only the Terraza, Sunset Terrace and empty Red box to entertain the crowd.
With Filthy Rich, Sander Van Doorn, Mark Knight and Camilo Franco all taking to La Terraza's stage, there was clearly a diverse array of musical talent and with the parties main man Mark Knight on at 3am that seemed the perfect time to check out the event. Originally assuming the renowned UK artist would be hosting the main room to find him in the more intimate terrace was a bit of a surprise but he didn't fail to bring a party vibe to the dance floor, which was peppered with revellers cutting some serious shapes.
There was also some rather unique dancers who seemed to be putting on some kind of circus inspired show. Dressed as a clown one of the female dancers floated through the crowd on a make shift aeroplane to join the other performers who were a combination of circus characters, Spanish bull fighters and belly dancers.
The sunset terrace on the other hand had a more chilled feel with Marco Loco giving an impressive set in there for the duration of the night playing tracks such as Daft Punk's Around the world. Having not seen the Scottish DJ before I was pleasantly surprised and really loved his varied sounds.
Although the majority of Space was closed off, the terrace had a lot going on from the visual treats to a strong set from Mark Knight; who smashed out bangers such as Erick Hassle ft. Ellie goulding´s track Be Mine and We are your friends by Justice vs Simian. Accompanied by an eye catching LED background and continuously interacting with the mainly Spanish crowd, Mark Knight's high spirit definitely added to the parties' atmosphere, it was just a shame their party fell on such a competitive night.
