It was a busy night for us on Thursday 25 September at Ibiza-Spotlight as we took in the DJ Awards at Pacha before heading off to one closing party we couldn´t miss ... the Cream end-of-season show down.
We were definitely feeling that the F*** Me I´m Famous closing bash was going to be pretty decent party, and by all accounts it was brilliant, but there was nothing that could stop us from going straight to Amnesia to check out Cream for the last time this summer.
Once again, Cream has had a massive summer in Ibiza and most weeks have provided some excellent parties, both in the main room and also in the newly renovated terrace. In fact, the terrace really has become a great dancing arena, while the intense atmosphere of the main room is as strong as ever.
On the night, the dj line-up was also looking good, with exclusive seven year resident, Paul van Dyk, and club favourite Eddie Halliwell working their magic in the main room.
It was hot, it was sweaty and it was busy ... but there really is nothing like a full-on party than there is at Cream. The atmosphere in the main room was amazing, with regular cheers for Eddie and a lot of respect for Paul van Dyk.
Eddie is rapidly building a reputation now as one of the biggest dj´s in the business, while PvD has continued to fill out clubs all over the world, with his sets always of the highest standard.
The Cream closing party was no different and tonight there was nothing between these two guys, they kept the main room full right to the end.
Meanwhile inside the terrace, it was down to Mark Knight and Dave Spoon (below) to get the party started. However, a special mention must be given to James Dutton, who really got the night kicked off in good fashion with some great music, before handing the decks over to Mark Knight.
The music all night in the terrace was spot-on, with a lively Knight set followed by a terrific Dave Spoon session. Not being over-impressed with Spoon´s sets over the summer, we were cautions about tonight, but we´ve found that over the weeks he has really taken to the Cream terrace and can now keep the party going and the crowd in the mood. His was one of the best set´s of the night.
One more special mention must go out to Sean Hughes, who as a part of Disco Bomb at the Cream closing party of 2007 stole the show. Having seen Sean Hughes (below) over the last two summers, it´s clear that this is a talented dj with a big future.
Already with a solid fan base in the UK and Ibiza, he is able to mix up several genres of dance and combine them with ease, flawess mixing and dropping a tune that makes the whole dancefloor go crazy. Sean Hughes closed the terrace off at the end of the night, leaving us wanting more.
But unfortunately, every party has to end eventually ... and it was sad to see the end of Cream for another summer. It´s been another amazing season however and we´re looking forward to what comes up in 2009.
