Cream is a name that rarely needs an introduction, having been at the forefront of Ibiza club life for over ten years. During this time, clubbers making the visit to Amnesia have enjoyed thumping trance in the main room accompanied by stylish house playing out in the terrace.

Comprising of two huge, warehouse-size rooms, Amnesia is the definitive clubbers' club – it's a place for dancing not posing. Cream deserves its reputation as one of the top club nights on the island with many of the biggest dj names headlining during high season. Over the years, clubbers have been treated to the likes of Tiesto, Paul Oakenfold, and of course, Paul van Dyk.
However, this season sees a new star enter the fold, as Eddie Halliwell joins the distinguished Cream Ibiza line up.
Eddie, who at 26 has already become one of the world’s top djs, brings his own energetic style to the proceedings, combining his passion for music and his unique ability behind the decks. Twice voted number one dj in the world by the readers of Mixmag, Eddie has a significant fan base of clued-up clubbers who appreciate his awe-inspiring DJ sets.
To celebrate this new collaboration, Eddie was invited to produce the first Cream Ibiza compilation of the summer, Cream Ibiza. Eddie Halliwell doesn’t disappoint delivering an awesome snapshot of Eddie’s dj talent over two CDs representing two sides of his current musical tastes.
CD One is a journey through twisted pumping house, electro and techno whilst CD Two is a full-on main room session of both euphoric, uplifting and Eddie’s trademark tech-trance sound. Both mixes will include exclusive re-edits of key tracks that Eddie himself has created to enhance this album to the max.
Speaking to Spotlight, Eddie told us "this was just a fantastic opportunity for me and I was over the moon when Cream offered me the chance to produce this compilation. I was really pleased to be able to produce both cds, I found this allowed me to add a bit of variety to the mixes, with the alternative mix turning out to be really creative. The timing of this cd was perfect for me too, with this now being my fifth year on the island."

With CD Two providing more of a snapshot of a main session at Cream, we wanted to find out more about which tracks would raise the roof at Amnesia.
“The whole of CD Two has a main room feeling with a real flow to it, it builds as the music should in the main room, but there are three tracks which I can really relate to. 'Lift', produced by Sean Tyas (Track 7 on CD Two), has worked amazing every time I’ve dropped it into a set. I’ve had a similar reaction to the Giuseppe Ottaviani track, Through Your Eyes (track 9 on CD Two), which gets a really strong reaction from the crowd. However, the closing track on CD Two by Marcel Woods, a remix of 'Cherry Blossom', brings out the best of the crowd when it’s played out – each time it’s gone down has been amazing! It’s perfect as the closing track of the cd and of a main room session”.

With the Ibiza season well under way, this year Cream at Amnesia has been a case of business as usual. Never playing to anything less than a full house, clubbers have been treated to amazing sets provided by the likes of Paul van Dyk, Above & Beyond, Marco V, Axwell, Ferry Corsten, Shapeshifters, and of course, the irrepressible Halliwell, amongst others.
As always, it is the euphoric atmosphere inside Amnesia which is often the highlight for those who attend each week. For Eddie, this is no different,
“It’s always fantastic in the main room and for me, it's always a joy to play at Amnesia. It’s just an awesome venue and I love the atmosphere that is created in the main room. There are so many factors to why the atmosphere is so strong. The actual set up at Amnesia is bang-on, the amazing sound system is a main contributor and the dj booth is positioned so that it’s a major focal point. Of course, there are also the fantastic ice cannons which always go on bang on time!
For me it’s also really important to have that connection with the crowd, which is why I love the people at Cream Ibiza - they really know how to let things go! I’m really looking forward to my forthcoming gigs this season”.
With this new compilation album set to be a success with clubbers everywhere, along with his compelling dj sets at Cream Ibiza this season, this year should see Eddie Halliwell continue his rapid rise to the very top.
