REM’s Michael Stipe was at Privilege on Monday to experience Manumission’s live music program - Duran Duran’s Andy Taylor too. Get there early for this weekend’s edition before it fills up with celebs.
Here is the latest info we have re: schedule
- 2.00 am - Faithless (main room)
- 3.30 am – Futureheads (Music Box)
- 4.30 am - Goldfrapp (main room)
Taylor was in attendance to check out the dawn performance of his son’s band in the Music Box, but mostly stuck to the VIP in that room.
However Stipe, who appeared with band and blue paint on his head at Hyde Park in London for last month’s Live 8 mega-vent, had a good look around. At 6am he watched his ex-lay Casey Spooner (from ‘Mish house band Fischerspooner) do his thing.
The pair looked close when talking to Ibiza Spotlight in the dressing room after his show.
The lead singer of REM, recently described by Uncut magazine as "the band who saved American music", said he and Casey went back “a thousand years”.
What did you think of Casey’s performance tonight?
Michael Stipe (right): I thought the whole band was tremendous and Manumission was extremely large.
What else are you planning to check out while you’re here?
I’m going to stay away from clubs and hang out with friends.
What about you Casey, have you been hitting the clubs at all?
Casey Spooner (left): I went to Carry On, I went to Pacha. I’ve done the rounds. I went to Penelope. But I gotta save it, I gotta keep it scarce. I’m a commodity.
