There’s a bit of something for every party person on the prowl tonight, tomorrow and/or Sunday.
The curious and the jaded are likely to head to the opening of Penelope, the new club in the Marina district of Ibiza Town. Will they finish the renovations in time? Will they be picketed by angry residents associations? Will all the booze be free? Answer these questions and more by wending your way there at some point after midnight.
Electric Sex took the back room of Eden’s Dusted by storm at the opening and will now be hosting every Friday night this summer. As a special bonus the ‘Call on Me’ workout girls who appeared in the Eric Prydz clip are scheduled to attend, along with Gordon Edge and MYNC Project.
Over in Ibiza Town Miss Moneypenny’s kick off their season in a familiar location – El Divino – but they’re now in the pole Friday night position. Trusted crowd pumper Jim ‘Feel My Shaft’ Ryan will be on the decks.
Tomorrow on Saturday (June 24), Hed Kandi begin their first Mark Doyle-less season. They mean to continue as they left off last year with the first in a series of pool parties at Es Vive. It will feature star vocalist Peyton who tells us oodles of tanned flesh squeezed into skimpy swimsuits will begin boogieing at 3pm. Later that night at El Divino (above), Andy Norman and Paul Wilkins and others will do their utmost to take up the slack left by the departure of the talismanic Mr Doyle.
Saturday also sees the first shot from the biggest of the big guns, Privilege in San Rafael. All their best and brightest will be in attendance, including Cesar del Rio, Danny Marquez, David Moreno, Deep Josh, Ernesto Altes, Global Radio’s Igor Marijuan, Javier Munoz (left), and Plastik Funk. There’ll be vocal stylings from Irma Derby, Charlotte Look, and Cindy-Anne. It’s a real family occasion, so if you have a gran who loves to prance about on podiums then take her along to this one.
Over the road the strongly-supported People from Ibiza commences their 2005 season at Amnesia with Pippi, Cesar de Melero, Les Schmitz and the boss’s son, Mar T. The following day (Sunday June 26) they’ll be putting their faithful foam machine back into service for all those who feel like subjecting themselves to a quick grope and possible suffocation.
There are fewer gimmicks at We Love’s Sunday Space session, but many more damn good djs – Felix da Housecat, Dan Ghenacia, Tiefschwarz, Smokin’ Jo, Tim Sheridan, Paul Woolford and loads of other perfectly-poised professionals.
But wait folks there’s more – one of the biggest draws in the world, Danny Tenaglia, jets in for the first of two Pacha appearances, also on Sunday night.
Top that, Ayia Napa.
